Hey everyone.
I'm curious if any of you have purchased those glass gems/half marbles for gaming, & if you know of a site where you can get a great variety of colors without having to buy 20 of each color.
If you're not sure what these are, here is an image:

The bottom is flat & the top is rounded. In a few of my games, we used them instead of mini's, with each of us picking a color, & then NPCs fitting into the other shades. In another game, the PCs had mini's but most NPCs were half marbles.
Thanks so much, if you know! Let me know.
All my best

I'd check with your local pet store or aquarium supply store... you might be able to get a bag of mixed colors instead of all one color.
They're also used in stained glass projects; I'd see if a local stained glass store allows you to buy them individually.
Also, see if there's a local rock polisher's club in your town; those folks usually have a lot of neat colored rocks, glass bits, and other things they've run through a rock polisher, and those might suit your needs.

I've seen and purchased stuff like this from Michael's and similar craft stores -- go to the floral section (people use the rocks and glass gems to fill vases of artificial flowers). You can definitely get mixed colors.
Whichever stores you decide to try, I would suggest trying a few before ordering online, unless the price difference is notable (however, I think that etsy shop is, while reasonable, not necessarily the cheapest). That way you can be sure to find the right colors/size/quantity etc. you want (sometimes hard to picture when ordering stuff like this online).
For mini substitutions, they're not as pretty, but I like these math tiles. Being one inch square, they fit the grid perfectly, and you can use poster tack to stick together bigger sets of squares for Large and larger creatures. They also work well as bases (provided you like square bases) for minis should you ever get any that need to be based.

Great Hall Games has a set of 50 in mixed colors for $5.00 (and if you happen to be in their Austin, TX store, you can buy assorted nickel-sized & quarter-sized glass drops in plain, transparent, frosty, or patterns for 15 cents each, but I assume that doesn't help you.)
