Confirmation of weight cost and total cost to add Keen to Curve Blade

Silver Crusade

I did read a different thread on here about Keen costs but I wasn't quite sure about certain details.

Assume I want to buy a "simple" Mithral Elven Curve Blade. Is the weight cost based on it's standard weight of 7 pounds, or Mithral weight of 3 (3.5?) pounds? It would seem to me that you would only pay per pound of Mithral used, not pay the higher weight amount. I don't see anything in the book that clarifies this. So, I would think the cost to be 1500 (or 1750) GP, not 3500 GP.

Next, if I add +1 to it. That's a simple 2000 GP cost.

Finally, I wish to add Keen to it. I'm guessing that it's not just a 2000 GP cost extra, even though the rules note that it's the same as a +1 enchantment. It seems that the extra +1 turns it into a +2 type weapon (not that it has +2 to hit/damage). If that's the case then, the extra cost is 6000 GP (since adding +1 and Keen at same time should be 8000 GP). Correct?

I think you have adamantine and mithral mixed up. Adamantine is a flat +3000gp to have as a weapon, so your adamantine elven curve blade would run 3080. Then to make it keen, you do have to make it at least +1 enhancement, which you are correct would be 8000 gp total. So a +1 keen adamantine elven curve blade would total at 11080gp.

If you really meant mithral, it's been clarified recently that you price based on the original weight, so you'd be looking at +3500gp for a mithral elven curve blade.

Yes, dummy me...I meant Mitral (and original post edited).

Is that clarified somewhere that the original weight is actually used? Doesn't it seem logical it would be based on the final weight?

Nah if you've seen the calculations for very light objects it ends up cheaper to make a mithral item(which is masterwork included) than a masterwork one if you use final weight.

Mithral: What weight do I use to determine the price of a mithral weapon or non-armor item?

To determine the additional price for the mithral (as compared to the normal item's price), use the non-mithral item's original weight and multiply that by 500 gp per pound.

For example, a steel dagger for a Medium creature weighs 1 pound. For its mithral equivalent, multiply that weight (1 lb.) times 500 gp/pound, or +500 gp. When added to the original item's cost (2 gp), the mithral dagger's total price is 502 gp.

There are likely some inconsistent mithral item prices in print, and these will be addressed in future printings of these books, as appropriate.
