Satyr / Half-Satyr rules questions

I recently bought the Into the Haunted Forest adventure booklet and was intending to run it for a group and maybe expand it into an original campaign on its completion.

The question I have regards a nameless, twice-mentioned half-satyr npc who

Adventure spoiler:

dies previous to the start of the story.

I wanted to expand their significance, so I went to the Bestiary, which says that half-satyrs don't exist and are always born as full satyrs. So, with that in mind, what's up with the half-satyr? Should I just consider it a small mistake and the NPC full satyr?

Also, are female satyrs possible or are they always born male?

You have to remember that module was made before The Pathfinder RPG.

That said there was a Half Satyr template in dragon mag #313 you might be able to convert to pathfinder.

Ah, that makes more sense. I'll probably just make the npc full satyr, then.

I don't have that module, but it looks to use the 3.5 rules that predate the Pathfinder RPG rules. Maybe in place of the half-satyr, use a faun?

That's a better idea than a full satyr npc! I wanted to make them female, and this gives me an in.
