Randomized PCs

In another thread, someone was lamenting the lack of a random character generator for PFS characters. So on a whim, I came up with the below system for generating PFS-legal PCs.

After doing so, I realized that the broader community might be interested, since this method hybridizes point buy and rolled stat generation, and I know I've seen lots of discussions about the two methods.

So in case anyone cares, here's a (Core-only, for simplicity) method for random character generation. Note: This is for a 20pt buy. Also, I weighted the rolls for race and class; adjust as you see fit. :)

STATS:
1. Roll 2d6+6. This is one of your stats. Calculate remaining points. Repeat until you have 10 or fewer points left.
2. Find your points among the following:
• If you have 5+ points left, roll 2d4+7 for this stat.
• If you have 0 points left and this is your last stat, it's 10.
• If you have 0-1 points left and it's not your last stat, this stat is 8.
• If you have 1 point left and it's your last stat, it's 11.
• If you have 2-4 points left, this stat is a 12.
3. Repeat step 2 until you have all your stats. Verify your point total, and if it's off, raise or lower your lowest stat(s) to comply with 20pt buy.

RACE:
Roll d%.
01-40: Human
41-55: Half-elf
56-65: Dwarf
66-75: Halfling
76-85: Elf
86-95: Half-orc
96-00: Gnome

CLASS:
Roll d%.
01-05: Barbarian
06-20: Bard
21-30: Cleric
31-35: Druid
36-45: Fighter
46-50: Monk
51-55: Paladin
56-65: Ranger
66-75: Rogue
76-85: Sorcerer
86-00: Wizard

Have fun!

I actually really like that stat generation method...random, but within the points range... I tried it and ended up with 14,15,12,11,13,12

Your stat generation method is overly convoluted. It would benefit from being simplified.

With the exception of formatting I thought it seemed fairly easy to use. What would you do to simplify it?

And back to Jiggy, good work I appreciate the effort.

I bought some dice on kick starter, I roll them and I have race/alignment/class/armour/weapon/treasure all decided for me. For stats I'm probably going to use 3d6 or NPC codex arrays.

I'd roll for race and class before generating stats. But looks interesting.
