DM Question: the light at the center of the wooden gear

Well, wouldn't you agree that the large wooden gear hanging from the ceiling in room J36 of Jzadirune could very well be a portal to the plane of Mechanus? One could open/close the portal by using the metal rods scattered all over the complex, and maybe even stage a small side-quest type adventure at Mechanus.

Well, what do you think about this? And more importantly: could you recommend any published adventure for low-level characters taking place at the plane of Mechanus?


Sounds interesting, depending on the party. If I recall, Mechanus is a lawful aligned plane, built around order and clockwork things. If the party who encounters is is lawful, sounds boring because they'll be little to do except maybe find some neat items. I suppose if they did it, they could go and get a little input regarding the Chaos coming to Cauldron.

For chaotic or neutral...dunno. Sounds like they may have some interesting battles there...and loot.

AS far as pre-conceived modules, I don't personally know of any. My Google-fu didn't reveal anything readily either.

There may be some AD&D2E Planescape modules that deal with Mechanus, other than that I don't know of anything that could work.


It's a good idea, but I don't know any adventures in Mechanus.
