I'd definitely play the paladin as incredibly suspicious of any demon that doesn't ping on the evil-dar, mind.

Additionally, Queen Galfrey gives the party items (akin to a phylactery of faithfulness, but with more awesome) with the explicit purpose of "protecting their souls against corruption" by letting them know if the acts they're about to take would displease their deity. The stated metagame purpose here is to give the more staunchly good-aligned players "permission" to work with the lesser of two evils.

Ahh, gotcha. Good points. For some reason I glossed over the evil outsider bit and replaced it with "fiends" in my mind. Thanks :)
