Gamer Life General Discussion

[rant]Is anyone else tired of seeing players not paying attention to something as simple as the character creation mechanics the GMs post in their Recruitment Thread? Have we, as a generation of roleplayers, devolved so far to the point that we can't even follow such simple guidelines?

Furthermore, I want to rip my hair out every time I see a character concept that completely goes against every concept of a specific campaign. (i.e. A demon worshiping Fire oracle being submitted for a Wrath of the Righteous campaign.... Seriously....)

I'm all about unique and interesting characters, that's what roleplaying games are all about. By no means I am saying people can't make/submit whatever they want, but don't throw a fit when your character either does not get picked for a campaign or gets lynched by a mob when your drow/goblin/orc/fill-in whatever monstrous(evil) character you decided to make. And yet...

Sometimes, players have a character idea that really appeals to them, and they're looking for a place, any place, to play it. Or, they deliberately want to play against type for a "fish out of water" effect. Or, they ALWAYS play the same character, and don't have fun playing anything else.

I just wish I had the problem as a GM of having so many players that I got to complain about how the rejected ones reacted, either when I rejected them in advance, or when I made the plot reject them at the table.

Here we go again.

That seems like a pretty reasonable complaint, but I'd like to point out that if the medium for the game is a public accessable internet forum, it is probably unavoidable, so, you know, learn to take the good with the bad.

I respectfully disagree. Adding a single caveat to your recruitment thread:
Absolutely no concepts that go against the character creation mechanics. This is not up for discussion.

If you are a player, there will be other campaigns. If you are a GM, you have many other submissions to pick that will not potentially give you a headache.
