Custom Dragon Animal Companion Feats

Homebrew and House Rules

In one of my campaigns a character is trying to permanently turn his animal companion into a dragon so I was trying to come up with feats to let him do so but I need so advise here's what I have come up with so far:

Dragon Companion:
Animal Companion or Mount class feature, Character LV ?
Permanently treat your animal companion as under the effect of Form of Dragon I spell, with the following exceptions to color of the dragon is set when taking this feat and cannot be changed and the breath weapon can be use once per day

Improved Dragon Companion:
Dragon Companion, Animal Companion or Mount class feature, Character LV ?
Permanently treat your animal companion as under the effect of Form of Dragon II spell, the color stays the same the one chosen in this feats prerequisite and the breath weapon can be used twice per day

The question I have is what do people think the LV prereq should be and any other ideas or input would be appreciated

Check out the book of drakes.

Compare existing companions to dragons of various ages.

Build a dragon eidolon.

Should give you a good approximation of character/companion lvl.

I would suggest you determine the approximate power in relation to a monstrous cohort: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/leadership---final

Looking at the animal domain, you generally get an animal companion at 4th level. So the 1st feat I would peg at 4th level. 4th level is also when some animal companions gain power. 7th level is another popular point when animal companions get more powerful, so the 2nd feat could be at 7th level. Coincidentally 7th level is when you can take the Leadership feat, which in my opinion is a better choice for having a dragon companion, but if you want one from level 1 you have to do it yourself.

Thanks you've all been really helpful.
