Ideas for short planescape adventure for introducing new roleplayer?

Advice

So, this isn't strictly for pathfinder RPG but since it's a setting that's mostly made for the same kinda game I thought this would be the most appropriate place to ask...

I'm soon starting up a small Planescape campaign, or at least I'm hoping to. Originally the plan was to run a more "standard" fantasy campaign, maybe RotRL or Shadows of Undrentide, but it seemed the players wanted something more... fantastical fantasy, rather than (in their words) "13th century with anthropomorphic lizards".

So I immediately thought of Planescape because I've long wanted to run a campaign in that setting. Now the issue is just that I really have no good ideas for adventures of the top off my head; we'll probably start playing quite soon, assuming one of the players actually want to play.

Because one of the players have never played roleplaying games before, and also is a bit shy towards strangers (they've just met once or twice before, though I know all the players well). The new players fear they won't be able to match the other players in terms of creativity, getting an interesting char etc, or that they'll get the social rules of roleplaying wrong.

So my plan is to start off with a little one-on-one with the new player, introducing them both to roleplaying and to Planescape. Now, I've never done one-on-one's before, so I guess I wonder if there's anything in particular to think about?

And then the big question: Do you guys have any good plot hooks or suggestions, both for the campaign in general but especially for the one-on-one?
They don't have to be very _challening_, more that they should be interesting.
Oh, and one more thing, this will probably be a far less combat-heavy game than most, not much dungeon crawl etc.
I plan to try to get my hands on the great modron marsh and dead gods, heard well about them, but it's not that easy to get 20 years old supplements in this country.

Heh, this became kind of a wall of text, sorry for that.

tl:dr;
1. Do you have any good suggestions for plots in Planescape?
2. Is there anything special I should think about before running a one-on-one adventure?

I'm keping an eye on this. I'm fond of planescape myself, and the idea of the ocasional one-on one adventure sounds like fun.

As for planescape, you could probably do ANYTHING YOU WANT. But seriously, probably start in Sigil, do a standard scenario, with the exception that maybe, instead of humans, you've got tiefling/aasimar/planetouched etc. Until you get into the outer planes, you cna work with a city (a huge & weird city, but still) that is fairly standard fare.

As for general plots, here are the ones I know of (from planescpae torment, I love that game):

-The blood war, the endless war between demons and devils. THey have a crapload of plots going around, should be easy to "hook" some players in.

-The lady of blades: nobody is sure what she is plotting, but everyone's plotting against her. She does appreciate the occasional help.

Those are general "world" things I can think of. Anything else would be disconnected without knowing how you want to start.

Yeah, I kinda want something that fits in a one on one, and is decently small scale and understandable yet quite "fantastic" in that it doesn't feel like the standard fantasy setting.

I'm thinking of something like a small murder mystery or similar, perhaps to get away from being convicted of it themself. Murder mysteries can be good in that they allow several completely different locales in one adventure, and it feels like they should work decently in a one on one?

Love Planescape, wish it had some continued form- dotting though.

Currently I'm thinking about kind of a murder mystery... Haven't fleshed it out fully as I've been swamped with work, but the baseline is this:

1. The character is approached by a friendly-looking Aasimar merchant in a bar in a not-quite-as-shaggy-as-the-rest part of the Hive, looking to share an ale and recruit the PC to be a caravan guard for a quite safe route. They set a time and place to meet, and the caravan guard leaves.
2. As the PC leaves the bar, he immediately witnesses the Aasimar merchant being attacked and stabbed, and when the attacker turns and runs away, the player character realizes that it's themself that they see! The PC just witnessed themself murder an innocent merchant, and so did at least a half-dozen random bystanders.

Then the adventure is hiding from law enforcement (probably Mercykillers, a good chance to introduce the faction) and finding out what happened through clues and contacts they might

What actually happened[/spoiler:

The merchant approaching them in the bar wasn't actually the real merchant but a Doppelganger with a grudge against the Aasimar, out to kill it and blame it on the PC; the Doppelganger spent time with the PC to "tune" into them to be able to look like them, then left and murdered the Aasimar in front of people while looking like the PC, so the "murderer" should get caught and executed quickly, preventing a thourough investigation that might point towards the doppelganger.

The possibilities with what to introduce are pretty large with this one, a few things I can think of:
1. Introducing a few of the factions as contacts or relatives of the Aasimar, perhaps Sensates, or the Fated. And several of the species as well; Abishai, Dabus and Modrons would both be good ones to introduce.
2. Introduction of a few of the weird laws and conventions of
3. And ultimately, towards the end of the adventure: travel to Bytopia where the soul of the Aasimar rests, and getting definite knowledge of the Doppelganger's conflict with the Aasimar.

I do not know what the character will be yet, and that would of course affect what I can use in the adventure, but we will see.

Yeah, but many have played it, and if my players haven't, they probably will after they get a taste of the Planescape setting.
