Hi Guys,
My daughter and I are about to start a new 2-player campaign. She is going to be Seoni and I was going to try Amiri. Are we doomed at the start (by not having any healing in the deck)? I thought about playing Kyra but she's a bit of a snoozer (and I've played most of the other characters already).
Thanks in advance for the suggestions/advice?
Ben

Seoni is a powerhouse. Dont be affraid to go low on cards with her because she recharge a lot and got huge bonus in combat. She definitely need a masterwork thieves tools asap.
She should concentrate on location with spell because she start with only 3 but always recharge any Arcane acquiered so it really help her to add a few during scenario.

The other thing is that there is nothing to stop you from taking a Cure for Seoni at the start. You'd have to banish it the first time you use it, but hopefully you can find a Healing Potion. I think it's also legit in the rebuild deck phase after a game to discard spells down to only 2 and then draw yourself a Cure (since it's Basic).

No. Playing by the rules, you may not "discard" cards during the rebuild deck phase of "Between Games" (page 19). You must trade them between players if possible and you only go the box if there are not enough of a specific card type in the pool.
To do what you are suggesting requires your group to banish more Spell cards than they acquire during the scenario. It's not impossible but it's down to a fair bit of luck to do this.
There's no reason why you can't house-rule this (replace a Basic card in hand with another Basic card from the box) but it is a house-rule.

Yeah, Seoni is a powerhouse. Just hope you pick up a couple of Arcane spells early on instead of Divine ones. You should start her at every spell-heavy location in the adventure, and then shift her to the Ally-heavy ones. Amiri focused on gaining every awesome weapon in the game should be her focus too.
Oh, and fall all over yourself when you get to B.O. to get her a Staff of Minor Healing. It's next to impossible for her to die with one of those in her deck as that's 3 spells that never go away plus 2 cards that cycle back in too out of a 6-card hand.

My Seoni has all damaging spells, and most of her other cards focus on damage mitigation. Guard allies, amulet of life, and the like. I bring along a thieves tools for barriers. I went with + to CHA and + to her discard spell power so she can burn a bit better without a spell in my hand.
Since she has the ability to recharge any spell with the arcane trait, I have her card check on spells, with the goal to get up to 6 of them, so I will have a better chance to draw back up to her hand size in the instance that she takes a hit with no way to mitigate. My next power check will go on recharging items with the arcane trait to keep the damage mitigating items at her disposal as well.
Since you have to banish the guard when using him, my understanding is that if I am below my required ally count, I can just pick him back out at the end of the game.

By the rules you are only allowed to do so If your team haven't acquiered any ally during the scenario. If they did you HAVE to choose from thoses.
