What's your favorite Pathfinder...?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Class?

Mine's the Magus. I've always been fond of Gishes in D&D, and the Magus just makes it a single core class instead of having to multi-class.

Monster?

I'm fond of demons in general.

Deity?

Asmodeus. His faithful rule over the vast empire of Cheliax, he helped lock away Rovagug and holds the only key, and he rules over an entire plane of existence.

You can't get cooler than that!

Sorcerer - I love the flavor and mechanics of spontaneous arcane spellcasters, and the Sorcerer is the premier among them.

Dragons - ever since I was a little kid these mythological creatures have had a special place in my heart. They are and always will be my favorite monster.

Class: I also like gishes, and the magus is the best example of it i've seen up until now.

Monster: As far as pathfinder-unique monsters, I'm quite fond of the "Denizens of Leng". Like Illithids, but weirder.

Deity: Cayden Calenhad. I'd never worship him, but it's hilarious that he doesnt remember how he became a god because he was too drunk.

Class

Whatever I happen to be playing, but lately I've been itching to play a scientist in a magical universe. So Alchemist.

Monster

I can't pick a favorite! I'll just say that Paizo's take on Goblins in Burnt Offerings #1 is what sealed my loyalty to the setting so I'll pick them. GOBLINS!

Deity

Shelyn, because she's a non-traditional adventuring deity who represents beauty of all kinds, and love of all kinds and is probably the goodest good that ever gooded. I'd like to play a Shelynite paladin or Reach Cleric somed-

Who am I kidding, Cayden Caillean! He became a god while he was DRUNK on a DARE. His inquisitors are more concerned with the quality of the spirits than the quality of your spirit, and he is just a good guy who embraces the spirit of ADVENTURE!

Class
Summoner by far. I love the "frail but wise" master with a badass bodyguard concept , hell i used to make before this class even got around.
But the summoner allowed me to begin this since lvl 1 without a problem.

Monster
This is a hard question to answer... well i always laught when i see the Chupacabra , so why not lols.

Deity
Desna ofc , she is awesome! And i really like the traveling cleric idea, most my chars love to travel and explore new places , even when they got nothing to do with Desna heh.

Class
Alchemist but i really enjoy most of the new classes they brought in to the game

Monster

mmm top 5 in no order
Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing- for this moment( DM:you come to a river you see some stuff resting on a stump, you could assume they are bathing by the way its laid out.
Player: bathing my butt, they got eaten by a tree stump who has the grappling hook?)

Kamadan- magical cats putting fear in to full casters ci.ADnD

Wendigo- best encounter ever. i did not even use the full monster just
Wendigo Psychosis.

Dark folk- fits well in to my game seen some good stuff out of my players because of them and the death trows

Daemon- to me they make a better greater evil then demons or devils

*home brew world so different list of gods...

Class: Inquisitor. My god has declared your existence illegal. I being extermination in 5 seconds. No, I am not paid to think.

Monster: Hands down it has to be the Bandersnatch in all of it's forms.

Diety: It's a toss up between Achekek and Groetus. One is a LE bad ass who can, and will, kill anyone or anything it's ordered to. The other one is madness and insanity incarnate, and is the Be-All and End-All of the planes.

Class: Monk, always been a monk.

Diety: All 3 of these tie: Iomedae, Sarenrae, Desna.

Class:

Monk. They're just the most fun for me. Or at least unarmed characters in general, like Brawler Fighter or the Deadly Fist archetype for Soulknife (something I really want a chance to play in a game).

Beating people with my bare fists is much more satisfying than using a weapon to me. Especially using a MoMS Monk. Styles are freakin' awesome and far more thematically appropriate for the class than Flurry of Blows IMO.

Monster:

Hm. Quite a few, I seem to get a new favorite every time I create a rough encounter as a GM.

1.) Revenant. Flavorful undead with a fairly solid threat rating. Can be both depressing and terrifying if you play up the "Helpless victim turned rampaging revenge machine" angle properly. Had one with a little girl murdered by a necromancer here a while back that was fun to play around with.

2.) Rakshasa. My favorite Outsider by far, more potential for deviousness and trickery than Demons and Daemons, and more flexible in their goals than Devils in my opinion.

3.) Humanoids with PC class levels. Yeah this one's kinda cheating but the most memorable encounters are usually those with class levels involved, especially a whole party full of "Anti-PCs".

Gods:

1.) Irori. My favorite class is Monk...what did you expect?

2.) Achaekek. He's pretty interesting I think, a literal assassin god, not just a "God of Assassins" like so many pantheons have, that never do anything themselves, just have patronage over those who practice said profession. And he's a giant red preying mantis.

3.) Cayden Cailean. He got drunk and turned into a god on a dare. I think that's all that needs to be said. Especially since now I actually read the thread others have said it already.

4.) Sun Wukong. God of booze and pranks. This one is here mostly because I want to make a "Fun Police" Inquisitor who worships him and takes his "sacred duty" of getting drunk and pranking people far too seriously.

5.) Pharasma. The rare example of a god/dess of death who isn't evil and isn't a prick. She gets brownie points just for that, but she also has the neat dichotomy of being goddess of midwives and stuff too, giving that whole "I have you in mind from the cradle to the grave" vibe that somehow manages to be a comforting idea rather than an intensely creepy one.

I am going to try to stick with Pathfinder Originals (or at least as far as I have seen/ in this incarnation)

Class: Alchemist, the can create such a wide variety of characters with a single character. In one campaign another player and I both played the class but were so far off from each other that it did not feel like there was any overlap.

Monster: The Pathfinder version of planetouched races are really cool to me, all of them. I don't know which to choose.

Deity: Hands down Cayden Cailean. He is the God of one of my favorite characters, and many of the things I hear or read about him reminds me of good times in my life.

Summoner - I love having artistic license of my 'pet'
Nymph - Jewel and Crombie. Nuff said.
Shelyn - I'm fond of gods of luck and more fond of birds than butterflies

Class: Rogue or Bard
Monster: N/A
God: Cayden Cailean

Class: Ranger. I love being the switch hitter (ranged attack until enemy closes, then the bastard sword comes out). Makes me feel like Aragorn. And the animal companions are awesome to boot. Everyone wanted me to take the wolf or an eagle. Screw that! Tyrannosaurus all the way!
Monster: Though I would never have picked them in any D&D edition, I'm going with goblin on this one. Pathfinders goblins are just so gosh darned iconic, that people can't help but love them even as they set your home on fire.
Deity: Cayden Cailean - There are at least two stories as to why he became a god, but both involve basically a dare and a lot of booze. And coming out of it and just shrugging and going off adventuring again? Yeah, Cayden rocks.

Class: I like mages so I'd say wizard, with alchemist as a close 2nd.
Monster: Don't know.
Deity: Cayden Cailean, for the already mentioned reasons.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nissan.

Class: Sorcerer (because they fit so well with my favorite race, the Kitsune)

Deity: I don't really care about them. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Desna. Good domains, and generally, if you do what adventurers do, you're in good standing. Runner-up would be Daikitsu, since she's the Kitsune goddess (even if her domains kinda stink).

Class: Tie between Inquisitor and Witch. I'm totally on the witch trial, just not sure the side.

Monster: Black Pudding. Real funny Pang game on the table, crushing all physics on the way. Special mention to Erinyes.

Deity: Pharasma. Love the true neutral death deity.

Class: Cleric, Inquisitor

Monster: Erinyes

Deity: Milani

Class: Bard. Always take credit for hits that would've missed without you!

Monster: Lich. Love undead, love spellcasters, love not dying.

Deity: Abadar. TAXFEST! There is a holiday called TAXFEST! Pharasma is a close second though.

Gonna get booed for this...
Class: Tie between Gunslinger and Paladin. Gotta uphold all the goods in the wild west

Monster: Demon. Pure, filthy, evil. Good for squishing or blowing the face off of.

Deity: Tied between Erastil and Lamashtu. I love the 'old, gruff, grumpy, sexist man' thing Erastil has going on, along with his 'family first' kind of overlook.
Lamashtu is terrifying and horrible. Which makes her awesome. Also she makes more demons for squishing

Class: None.. or all of them. I love archetypes. They've changed the way I've been playing these classes for the last 13 years.

Monster: Goblins. I love what Paizo has done with the goblins.

Diety: Asmodeus.. though the fact that he was shoe-horned as a god in D&D and forced into the Realms as a god of another god's portfolio is beyond annoying. One of the many reasons I play pre-spellplague Realms only.

class: rogue
monster: twigjack
deity: kurgess

Class?

Druid. I love the versatility. Its not a nuclear bomb, but it always morphs into the exact tool you need for the job.

Monster?

Dragons. Mengekare in particular has a really cool set up.

Deity?

Calden Cayden. A GOD of drunken debauchery and adventuring ? Sign me up.

Class: My favorite class is fighter, but it sucks. So going for inquisitor. Nice combo of fighting, buffing and utility. Magus has token pool, I hate those mechanics, otherwise similar.

Monsters: Death worm! A plethora of abilities for such a low CR creature. Favorite outsiders: demons.

Deity: don't like Golarion setting on the whole, but Cayden Cailean appeals to the real world me. Maybe a bit of Desna.

Class? In my book, it's hard to beat fighter.

Monster? The Golarion goblin is a wonderful opponent: they have the right balance of goofy and terrifying.

Deity? Desna. Hands down.

Shadow Lodge

Class: Eldritch Knight (ranger(trap smith)1/wizard 5/ EK 10/AA/4) most powerful character in the game, also monks (if you want to be like "but thats not A class thats 4 classes)

Monster: balor

Diety: abadar i think i spelled that right. i love lawful neutral alignments, and i like the idea of a god that functions as an arbiter.

Class?

Summoner. I love how the eidolon could be almost anything you can imagine, and the many unique relationships a summoner can have with their eidolon...sorcerer is a close second, though.

Monster?

Hmm...tough one. I like lots of different kinds of monsters...araneas, asura, azatas, doppelgangers, kytons, qlippoths, rakshasa, worms that walk...but I guess if I was going to pick...liches, probably. Always a classic.

Deity?

Abadar. Huzzah for civilization! I'm fond of Gorum and Nethys too, though. Tsukiyo is intriguing but there's hardly any information on him, alas. If demigods count, though, Arshea, Kelinahat, and Zohls would be up there...

Class: Rogue, my favorite conceptually, I wish DND would get around to making them good.

Monster: Jabberwoks, Ghosts are my top favorite.

Deity: Erastil! Praise be to the Huntsmaster!
