No love for nature?

Working up my character for my first time able to -play- in PFS (I usually GM); I was rather disappointed to see there was no real faction that appeals to my senses for a druid/nature-oriented ranger.

Might we see another faction in the future to fix this? Or perhaps at least suggestions?

In the Pathfinder Soceity Field Guide there is a Vanity called "Green Faith" as a membership. It gives you a good bonus and sounds like the fluff you're looking for.

Alas, no Factions are really tailored for mature themed characters.

My Druid chose Osirion, my Fey Foundling Oracle chose Grand Lodge, and I'm still trying to decide where to put my Shoanti.

It does provide a good bit of 'fluff'. But my big issue atm is no faction really seems in line with a druid's general goals. Trade, political games, freedom of people from slavery.. just eh.

Grand Lodge is all about "Explore, Report, Cooperate". Those are neutral themes.

@Nefreet: I think I'll probably go with the same choice as you, for the time being; I can see an Osiriani druid interested in uncovering their hidden treasures somewhat easily.

That was kinda where I went. My Druid is a Nagaji, and is interested in Ancient history, so Osirion best fit the bill.

None for nature sucks, but I always went with something related to a secondary goal or at least one that I was okay with doing faction missions for. Only 8 factions to choose from. Gotta' pick one, so may as well go with the one you think you'll have the most fun with. Besides, druids have a life and personality outside of tree hugging.

Umm. You have a minor yet at the same time very significant typo in there.

Significant indeed! I don't know if we have one for nature at all, but Zarta Dralneen is the only faction leader I know to ask for a whip... among other things.

Lol, who designed the keyboard with the "n" and "m" next to each other?

Also Keep in mind that your character has his reasons for joing the Pathfinder Society. That his 'his' or 'her' group. He might feel strongly about a god/ faith/ country /other but at the end of the day there has to be an overriding reason why he /she joined the society.

Thus if your concept is Nature loving Druid and dosnt fit within the defines of the Pathfinder Society (just using the previous example as my example) then perhaps the character concept might not be doable in Society games.

As four the core 'secret' factions are actually nation based, it may bring a level of nationalist/patriotic tendencies to a character. Again are these overwhelmed by the desire to put society before nation?

I am not entirely convinced that the PFS organised play setup does Factions better than the Living Arcanis one did some time ago. It's certainly an interesting fit for any organised play campaign but can somewhat limit a vision for a character esp for religous devout style character or extreme point of view character.

I thought we all joined so we have something to do every Thursday night.

I thought we joined for the cool loot. (Well, for a brief chance to play with the cool loot before handing it in to our bosses, and then buying it back if we wanted to keep it.)

Druids of Verduran Forest have a treaty with the nation of Taldor. Your could have a reason based off of this Treaty or perhaps as part of a diplomatic overture to Andoran.

Hope that is helpful.

Hmm... Reconsidering my loyalties now.

Not entirely accurate from the site you linked to Sholes original design had the M and N on completely different rows, which was subsequently changed by Remnington before release

True.

but it is easier to blame Mr. Sholes than "an unnamed remington technician."

My neutral good, Fanboy of the chronicles and faux rogue druid is a member of the silver crusade to help people.

The wild empathy focused druid is a member of the Qadirian faction. (think the scene in harry potter where slughorn walks into hagrids hut and sees that Hagrid's got rare magical components being used as paperweights) Its easier to get the scorpion venom when you can just bellyrub the scorpion into giving it to you.

My tanky druid was a member of the shadow lodge (protect your herd), he';s now defaulted to grand lodge (if I fight for you, do I get to kill the Aspis?) He has.. issues with their hunting practices.

Silver Crusade

Here's a fun thought: Are there any factions whose general agendas fit your character's?

For example, a Druid might tag along with Silver Crusade because they're the ones most directly opposed to the demons in the Worldwound area. The Worldwound is aptly named, by the way. The skies look dark red almost all the time (according to art I've seen, anyway), a good chunk of the normal wildlife in the area has mutated into huge, violently evil versions of themselves... and even some plantlife is being modified this way.

The demons are wrecking nature on a regional scale. I can easily see a Druid deciding "While our broader goals have nothing in common, right now we have the same enemy for slightly different reasons. If I do not act, the environment will be ruined... so I will accompany your crusade."

I have an Andoran faction Bard who does the same thing. They actually believe Andoran will, in the long run, be harmful to freedom and this is said Bard's major concern. They nonetheless hang around with the faction because their resources are the ones most suited to advancing said Bard's plan. One of my other characters outright despises the Society, but sticks around with them because the Society often finds things that do concern the character; using their leads, travel, and resources is the best way for them to intervene in problems throughout the world. Sort of a "I'm just using them!" approach to being a member.

You can do similar mental gymnastics to find a suitable faction for most character concepts. There may not be a direct Nature Faction, and I agree that's a bit jarring, but there are groups who will advance such a hypothetical faction's goals just fine if they're willing to do a little "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" behavior in tolerating non-nature-themed adventures from time to time.

Part of that is the problem. I was looking into the druids of Verduran, and very cool. But they tend to have issues with Andoran, and more friendly with Taldor.

Awesome. BUT. Reading the Taldor blurb; esp. the "Pathfinders who want to work with <insert faction here> should be willing to <do these things>. And blackmail, verbal coercion, charismatic political stuff doesn't really fit the bill for a druid; at least IMO. I dunno, maybe I just want more fluff than they allow for.. overall, it'd just be nice to have a character that makes sense.

All in all, at the moment, I'm thinking I'll just stick with my Chelaxian tiefling concept.

It depends on how you see a druid. A druid is a lot more than a treehugging hippie, he's got a personality and cares beyond trees. Some druids might be really into political things, others might be businessmen, and others might be a recluse. Maybe your just a guy who likes to adventure and has a closeness with nature. The downside to working for the society at all is that extortion, blackmail, murder and theft are a given.

I thought Tieflings weren't liked in Cheliax.

They're not respected, but they're more prevalent there than most countries IIRC.

IMHO, if you are playing a Druid with an Animal Companion, do not dump Cha. My Druid is Qadiran and a merchant, specifically his family raises horses. He reveres nature but works within society, to support and protect nature.
