Leveling up Sajan: Advice

Hi All,

We just finished the Lost Cost campaign. Sajan now gets a skill feat point (and an additional one after the next scenario).

I was hoping you guys wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts on where you've dropped those two points in your own game play.

Here's what I was thinking:

(1) First Skill Point
He has NO plus on Dexterity unless he's tumbling So, the first +1 is almost certainly a must.

(2) Second Skill Point
Things got a little more interesting here. Dexterity yet again seems like a safe pick but we debated boosting Charisma or Strength make ol' Sajan a little more well rounded.

For his Powers upgrade, Seems like a no-brainer increase that tiny hand size to 5 (over the magic trait). My buddy playing him can't wait to add a Weapon proficiency to him but I said that sounds swell but keeping a weapon in his hand will be tricky at times

His current deck for simple reference:
Weapon: just those fists.
Items: Amulet of Mighty Fists, Cape of Escape, Spyglass, Thieves Tools
Allies: Father Zantus, Solider, the esteemed Poog.
Blessings: BOG (x4), Desna, Sarenrae, and Torag


I tend to specialize my characters. So my Sajan has +2 dex so far and as far as card/power goes, Id like to eventually get one really good ranged weapon card in my deck (So i can use dex instead of str) that doesnt require me to pick up the weapon skill but im not in a hurry until i see what the weapons available later on look like.

Father zantus is a great card, i have it in mine too. Poog might be a good addition, i dont use allys often. Glad to see there are upgrades to amulet of mighty fists later on.


So far, I went with dex +2 and an extra blessing.

Next skill will probably be Constitution, and next card might be item if there's something interesting in AP 2. If there's nothing I want, I'll wait to keep the best chances possible to start with the amulet of mighty fists.

I plan on making him a drunken master after AP 3, so I'm staying away from weapons for now, might give him one later down the line, but I'll stay focused on items, allies and blessings for a while.


Broadly speaking, I like to boost charisma to help pick up allies, and wisdom because it feels like there are a lot of wisdom checks, especialy with monsters before combat.

Yeah - we were tempted with Wisdom or Charisma but he already has two great allies (Zantus and Poog). Plus, half of his blessings have already been upgraded to non-BOGs which means he has a decent chance of playing those specialized blessings on other checks.

This was still a flip flop thinker for us though.

I'd probably go straight dex for the first two skill feats on him. Not only does it boost his combat, but it helps with probably half the barriers in the game, too.

Yep - we went +2 to Dex. Totally felt like the right move as the small hand size meant an typical average attack of 2d10 (base Dex + a blessing) +2.

For today's power feat bump, we increased his and size to five. He already has the amulet of mighty fists and Ezren as his teammate to take on a Ghost or Specter:)

What did you take for his power feat upgrade?

Agreed on hand size for him, and most characters that start with only 4, actually. More options is good, and Sajan's actually the only 4 card hand size character that doesn't have good armor, so I'm not worried about taking damage from having 5 in hand at the start of a fight.
