in a home game the aasimar counted as human counted as half elf is completely legit, but in pfs racial heritage is kinda useless. but you can do it all as a hal elf, now that half races can pick their own favored clas bonuses, or those of both parent races (half elves can pick half elf, elf, or human favored class bonuses now)

Where's a link to this ruling/FAQ, if you don't mind?

So, here's a question.

Is a wand of paragon surge legal for any race? The spell isn't available to your race, but magic items are....

Because you could emulate being a half-elf with a DC 25 Use Magic Device check. :p

You can emulate being a Half-Elf to cast the spell, but that will not allow you to benefit from it. To quote the UMD rules:

"Emulate a Race: Some magic items work only for members of certain races, or work better for members of those races. You can use such an item as if you were a member of a race of your choice. You can emulate only one race at a time."

The spell itself is not a magic item so RAW UMD won't help you.

Uh oh...

Cast Paragon Surge. Choose Additional Traits. Choose Rich Parents.

Would you or a paid merchant lose the 900 gold once the spell wore off? Would the stuff you purchased disappear?

Two problems:

1) Rich Parents is not a legal trait for PFS (in case you weren't aware, you are in the PFS boards).

2) Rich Parent's only affects your gold at character creation, at any point after that it does nothing.

My bad. I've been double-checking on Nethys Archives for the little PFS logo on traits. The trait was wedged between two PFS legal traits. Guess my dyslexia strikes again.
