1. Editing Characters: It looks like i can grant page by page permissions. Though you likely need a google account to edit.
2. Not to many. I think if we go for to many more over 6 it might get a bit too chaotic.
3. Research:
- Different district information in general because none of us are from New Orleans and we wanted to get a feel for it.
- Places around New Orleans we can build off of, like the 'Goblin Market' and places we might even end up in. Even the home of the fey court possibly.
- Supernatural events/stories to that we can tie to the game.
I believe we have decided that we with a 'Goblin Market' that is Neutral Accord territory, but the portals to it are fought over. One of the easiest to access (in the US, maybe just in the South) is in New Orleans. And there are turf wars going on to gain control of the portal. Because the one who controls the portal, controls who goes in.
We have also talked about having a fey court possibly situated in a forest region (that i momentarily forget the name of) between two districts.

Icewhisp- I think that we are just doing general research in regards to New Orleans at the moment (such as the ghost of Suleyman that I posted about earlier).
I have never seen a game with more than seven PC's and the GM. Not saying that it can't be done though.
I am looking to be an EoP but I don't know what Power I want to use. I am hoping to be able to make a PC that will want to do good, but that his troubles make him counter productive to working with the group.

As for what I want to make... I was thinking perhaps doing something tied to Voodoo... Perhaps going a more faith related route... though a shifter of sorts is an option too... I haven't take much more than my initial look to think about my concept ^^; Had a real busy weekend.

![]() |

I was planning on two character as seeing which one you guys would want me to play. My first is CoG who until now flies solo going down the streets with blessed Molotov cocktails taking down evil. My other is a New Orleans witch doctor style character who uses Thaumaturgy to make deals with people for a living.

![]() |

Apparently New Orleans is a big vampire place also with a nearby swamp it could be easy to write about unearthed tombs that hold powerful entities, Maybe we could have a location named Swamp with the aspect of
1) What is in the swamp should stay there
2) Deathly waters
3) Undead mists
4) Clouded lands
Also apparently the french quarter is a hotspot for supernatural activity and could easily be another location.

I do have some info on the Venetian Isles, though I'm sure it's an area we will go to much.
-Outside the City's Levee system
-Separated from the City by Vast amounts of undevelopped land
-Residential Community that Resembles a Fishing Town
-Became a Bedroom Suburb in the Late 20th Century
-The ruins of old Fort Macomb are along Chef Menteur Pass at the south of the neighborhood
-hit hard by storm surge during Hurricane Katrina in 2005
Fort Macomb and the Chef Menteur Pass are the only really notable things in my area. Fort Macomb is in bad shape. Bad enough they do not even allow it to be toured.
And i think we talked of having undead at one point... I need to go review things.

Yes, the research is to give us foreigners a feel for the city, and to inspire brainstorms in city creation.
The Swamp could contain the autumn court (I feel like its the child court of winter, given that the power starts shifting back towards winter during the Summer Solstace, and swamps just seem more evil to me)
Or maybe it could contain a lot of Undead, after all, people dying and their bodies getting claimed by swamps is a classic because its a very real threat.
ALso, If no one else with more experience takes over, I'll be the GM... although I'm not sure I'm completely suitable for the roll. If I do, to keep things a little easy, I'll be doing only 4 people in my game. (Kana and BIG, you two are in as you've been the most active in helping out/doing things. The only thing that would change this is if you decided to drop out.)
THat being said. If some one else will take over GMing, I wanted to play a changeling. WIth my Sidhe Half not officially decided yet. I've been looking over the city-building stuff more than the Player Character stuff, and I haven't gotten a handle on how most of that works yet.
PS: Checking out the site now Kana.

Kana |

Well I'm a programmer by trade and my main project at work IS a website (and the database behind it) for a software we sell. I also work on our desktop stuff, so I get to play with all sorts of things ^^ Glad you like it ^^
And as we get some set locations done, I'll fill out more. I'm going to go gather and sort all our gathered information right now and we'll see what all I get done before I have to sleep for work.

deadspeak |

I like the idea of using the swamps for some sort of undead court possibly. Maybe we could have it associated with Down Below. The bar idea would be good in the sense that it would give everyone someplace that they could go to relax, gather intel, and meet with hostile forces without having to worry (too much).

The books mention that Baltimore has a caffienomancer that runs a bookstore/coffee shop hangout for the clued in, and Cafe Du Monde (coffee of the world) is a well known restaurant in New Orleans, how about a play on it, like Café de L'éveillé (google translated coffee of the awakened, for those who are "awake" to the supernatural world)

Robert Merrow |
I'm a fan of that.
Also I think we were still throwing Ideas around for the Goblin Market. Other than the fact that it exists, and has portals up the whazoo! I don't know if anything has been set in stone.
I do like the idea of the coffee shop though. WOuld be interesting actually. (I'm overly sensitive to caffeine, like the squirrel in "OVer the Hedge" and I might pass that on to my Changeling character just because.
I try to avoid coffee because of this, but i'm thinking either my character will be adicted (and hyper to the extreme) or just look weird hanging out in a coffee shop not drinking coffee.
Of course, all this is if I'm actually playing and not GMing.

deadspeak |

Seeing a changling hyped on caffeine would be both extremely funny and utterly terrifying.
I guess one thing I want to go ahead and touch base on is to find out who is actually going to be playing/gming. If we were to cut off people from this point right now I think I counted a total of 12 people who have posted to the page. Some have only posted once stating that they were interested and some have posted more than once. If you are going to be Gming Robert you've already mentioned Kana and Big as part of your four. I guess we need to decide who else is in, and then maybe whoever is left can form their own group so that everyone who's interested is able to play.

I'll post a bit more later but if you read back into this thread you'll see a proposal by me for a Accorded Neutral Ground on a paddelwheel steamboat.
Personally while I do like the idea of an Autumn Court, my feeling is that they've become the Drizzt of the Dresden Files RPG. I'd prefer to go for a smaller court. I imagine Fey politics to be fractal: every larger court holds dominion over a number of smaller courts, which hold dominion over even smaller courts etc..
I'd prefer to go with a Court a few rungs down from the Winter & Summer, such as the Court of Rains, First Snow, Ebb, Storms (especially since there is a 'hurricane season' at the Gulf of Mexico). Alternatively, go with a non-cyclical court, like the Court of the Erlkonig, more inspired by the primal non-seasonal aspects of nature. Examples would be the Court of Prey or the Court of Raptors.
Also, my general thought was that we spent a week or two building the city itself and just see which of the players that expressed an interest would be left. I suspect we'd come out at 6 or 7 by then :)

The Quite-big-but-not-BIG Bad |

@deadspeak, icewhisp and the other newcomers: If you read back into the thread a bit you'll see quite a lot of suggestions and discussion that some of you seem to have missed.
Concerning the Accorded Neutral Grounds:
The Goblin Market: not ANC the way McAnally's Pub is, more supernatural, located in the Nevernever and much less safe. Not even necessarily protected. Kind of like Arctis Tor during Mab's party in Cold Days but more accessible to outsiders. Heavily mercantile-themed. Also not necessarily owned, operated or dominated by goblins, the name is a remnant from the original inspiration (a poem and later Changeling: the Lost), we could rename it.
The Mistress of the Mississippi: ANC similar to McAnally's Pub. Located in the mortal world, mostly open to mundane mortals (except the club-member only bar and suites) and guests enjoy ANC protection. Biggest differences with McAnally's Pub: not static (a different town on the Mississippi every day), a private club for those in the know about the supernatural and a mysterious, probably supernatural owner that probably signed the Unseelie Accords.
@Kana: how do I get permission to add stuff to the site?

Kana |

You need to get me either a google account name or an email address. I used google sites to host and manage it. You can PM me that information if you like. I added the 'Goblin Market' (which I called Underwood Market on there) with the information that seemed to be what we had agreed upon. I know nothing is set in stone yet.
We had also talked that Hurricane Katrina was the result of the fey restoring balance in the Nevernever but it upset it in the mortal world.

Robert Merrow |
If I was to GM....
well, given the recent activities. I'd say that in addition to Kana and BIG, I'd probably go with Deadspeak and icewhisp as they've been more active. Also icewhisp's experience with the system would be very helpful to the rest of us noobs. :D
however, that could change based on the level of activity/expressed interest in the game.
Anyway, Kana I'll PM you my gmail account.
(Also, I'll be quite busy today and most of tomorrow. As well as friday night to sunday mid afternoon. But once that's done I'll start compiling and sifting through all our random research and brainstorms. I'd wager we have enough for the next step and its high time I stopped stalling in hopes that another GM will show up haha)
Icewhisp, I'd like to PM you with questions about the system once I begin reading over the rules more thoroughly. Will you be able to respond relatively quickly once I do?

Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard was the most famous Civil War soldier from New Orleans and fought in the Battle of Shiloh; his ghost is said to roam the streets of New Orleans whispering “Shiloh“, which means “place of peace” Another possible person. Also updated one of my characters on the site under player one

deadspeak |

Just tossing this out there for consideration! Has anyone giving any thought to maybe once every week or so playing a game via Roll20 or Skype?
@Big In regards to The Mistress of the Mississippi, if the players are on the boat for a considerable length of time during a scene would the boat not eventually take them outside of New Orleans? Or could we perhaps use some sort of portal that would take people back to where they boarded automatically.

Robert Merrow |
I already run a skype game of Kingmaker haha, I'm down with that. It works great although it's harder to have a battle map since I'm running on a laptop and can't run too many programs at once. (especially if I want to load anything quickly)
However, I haven't explored the roll 20 site, but I hear good things about it. I'll check it out and see how that goes.
I wont be able to run once a week if we do that though, only once a month.

deadspeak |

I'd be down with doing it once a month as long as we can make the game time substantial when we do get to play. Having it set up for once a month would probably make it easier to coordinate schedules too.
Roll20 seems to be very well set up. Well worth a look and it seems to be fairly well set up for the FATE system.
Don't worry about the laptop thing too much, I'm sure we'll be able to make things work.

deadspeak |

I added a picture that I found and thought was pretty cool to the Goblin Market section of the site. If everyone likes it and we decide to keep it, please remind me to give credit to Steampunk Worlds Fair, lol! I also have updated the Folklore area with the information that I found in regards to Prince Suleyman.

The Quite-big-but-not-BIG Bad |

I'll start adding stuff to the site after work.
Concerning the Skype/roll 20 idea: I'd love it but I'm afraid I live in Western Europe and I'm on European time (GMT+1). That might be problematic in planning it in.
If you all really want to play real-time badly and the timing would be impossible to manage, I could withdraw from the game (of course wouldn't prefer to but I'm not gonna prevent you guys from playing the way you want). I'd still help in building the setting and site, since I love world building (and I could blatantly steal the work for a potential future Dresden Files or d20 urban arcana game ;) )

Should have explained that a bit more clearly, sorry. My idea was that the Mistress is a conventional paddle-wheel steamboat that seems like a conventional tourist attraction. During the day the boat sails from one town to another one, where it will dock. During the evening and night, the Mistress will serve as a bar, restaurant and nightclub in whatever town it's located in. In the morning it will set sail again for the next town. In this way it will go back and forth between New Orleans and whatever town is as far up the Mississippi as we want.
As long as the PCs visit the Mistress during the evening, they won't be taken out of whatever town they're at. They can use the Mistress as an Accords-protected means of travel between towns during the day (which some of the patrons might do). Some patrons might even have taken up permanent residence in one of the suites to be safe from some supernatural authority they've pissed off (I'm kinda imagining something like supernatural sharks and water Fey continuously circling the Mistress, waiting for their prey to finally leave the ship).

The Quite-big-but-not-BIG Bad |

Here I´ll just report the MoM idea.
The Mistress of the Mississippi: a seemingly restored old paddlewheel steamboat that stems from the 19th century. The public knows the Mistress as a restored tourist attraction that travels up and down the Mississippi river and its tributaries from the harbor of New Orleans and back. Tourists can hitch a ride on the steamboat from settlement to settlement during the day but during the night the Mistress becomes a mix between a saloon, a restaurant and an old fashioned version of a nightclub. During this time the main deck, including the restaurant and the nightclub, is open to the public but the rest of the steamboat, including the bar and living quarters, are only accessible to the mysterious private club known as the Mistress’ Misters and Misses. Members of this reclusive private club are allowed to rent a room for overnight stay and it is said that some are even permanent inhabitants. Unknown to the public, the Mistress is Accorded Neutral Ground and is widely used by supernatural beings and those in the know to meet, greet and deal. Those who are on the boat are protected by the Unseelie Accords both during the day, when the steamboat functions as a mode of transportation, and during the night, when it serves a social establishment and meeting grounds. Only those in the know about the supernatural are allowed to become members of the Mistress’ Misters and Misses that reside in the private sections of the steamboat. Nobody knows who the owner of the Mistress is but it is likely that he or she is a very powerful supernatural signer of the Accords and an extremely wealthy individual, as the maintenance costs of the steamboat are reported to be almost prohibitive.

That is a pretty large time difference to overcome. I could arrange some time in my schedule to fit in with everyone else probably once a month for a live session, but I wouldn't be able to promise anymore than that. I do enjoy live sessions, and honestly I've never done PbP before so if we go that route it'll be a first for me.
I'm pretty much down for whatever. We could even do a split of some sort if that is what everyone decides. I just don't want people like Big to miss out. . .we'll just have to check our schedules and see if we can come up with something that works for everyone.
I'm changing up my character a little bit. I think I am going to go with an person who is fighting the control of a demonic weapon. I'm working with a Dresden Files Character Manager program that I found online and trying to get it all set up. I think/hope it is gonna be cool as hell. If anyone is interested in the program let me know and I'll send you a link.

The Quite-big-but-not-BIG Bad |

We'll see how we can plan everything when we get the world a bit more fleshed out :)
I haven't been thinking about my character much, my initial ideas were a tech-savvy cat burglar specializing in magical items and such (every electronic device becomes a booby trap when a wizard is near, muhahaha), a Cajun Traiteur (RL catholic healer-shaman-guys, basically a healing-specced practitioner) or my current favorite: an Emissary of Power of probably one of the Norse deities.
I just love the idea of a modern day Viking, clad in Kevlar, bearing a battleaxe and an Uzi. :D

deadspeak |

Well I haven't been formally working on my character yet, but I have a good idea of what I want to do. I'm going to have to come up with some homebrew skills and such, but I think I am going to go with a Pure Mortal who Caries a Demonic Weapons which is an item of power and grants him/her all of his abilities. The guy/girl is in conflict with the weapon because it always wants to just kill, kill, kill.
I'm really excited about this idea. The only thing I am currently trying to pan out is what kind of skills he/she will have if they aren't holding the weapon (since all supernatural powers come from the weapon).
I figure we've got plenty of time to worry with character creation when we get the city more planned out :-)

![]() |

Okay this is where we need to have a dm ruling because sorry to burst your bubble byt true mortals can't take items of power ass seen by " Pure mortals may take as many mortal stunts as they can afford without putting them at or over the zero refresh cut-off. That said, some NPC mortals do exactly that." the game system is designed so that true mortals can only take mortal stunts as to balance their plus two ability otherwise all true mortals would be wandering around with items of power. Now i have dm's rule that item of power isn't supernatural and some have but i'm just pointing this out.
