Custom Spell

Advice

I am currently playing a Magus and was thinking of creating a second level thunder based touch spell to follow up all the shocking grasps.

Does this appear balanced or should it use d4s instead of d6s because it's sonic?

Thunderstrike
School evocation [sonic]; Level magus 2, sorcerer/wizard 2

CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S

EFFECT
Range touch
Target creature or object touched
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes

DESCRIPTION
Your successful melee touch attack unleashes a peel of thunder which deals 1d6 points of sonic damage per caster level (maximum 10d6). The creature is also deafened for 1d4+1 rounds.

Sound Burst is a 2nd level bard/cleric spell that has a sonic effect. Just wanted to make sure you saw that. Also the Elemental spell feat might get you to where you want to be. You might also look at the Shatter spell.

No Save w/ a deafening effect is pretty harsh.

Hmmm. If it's just too keep up damage, take Intensify spell. It's more versatile, imo. The 1d4+1 round of deafness without save is really huge, especially if you use it on a caster. If you want this effect I would add a Fort negates for deafness only.
