Multiclass Treesinger Druid

Rules Questions

If I take levels in both Treesinger Druid (ARG) and another class that gets an animal companion, do the levels stack? Do I wind up stuck with a lower level companion in each class? The feature itself says the following:

ARG wrote:
Except for the companion being a creature of the plant type, drawn from the list of plant companions, this ability otherwise works like the standard druid’s animal companion ability.

I'm fairly sure that means it should stack, but I'm hoping for some word from those that understand the rules better than I.

In Pathfinder Society at least, the official ruling is that companion levels only stack if the creature appears on both lists. If you can't get a plant companion with the other class, then you can't advance a plant companion with the other class. But if it's a home game, then you'll have to ask your GM.

It only stacks if the companion you choose can be taken by both classes. You can't stack the plant companion with your cavalier levels.

Has this been clarified as a PFS only thing?

You could always make a Treantrider cavalier archetype. : D

No this is a general ruling. PFS rulings follow general rulings 99+ percent of the time. The only real differences is that PFS just bans certain things.

It wasn't a ruling by the developers; it was a ruling by Michael Brock specifically for PFS. But it's not "PFS-only" in the sense that it contradicts the rules. It's instead a gray area that has been ruled on by the campaign leadership, but not the game developers in general.

That's about as official as it gets. In my home games I'd follow Brock's ruling because it makes sense within the ruleset. Other GM's might rule differently, that's their prerogative.

Brock handles PFS.

Not everyone plays PFS.

Is this an official FAQ/Errata?
