Bout One
KAILIN VS. FALCON

Male Half-Elf

If I understand things correctly, Falcon (being first alphabetically) is in A11, while Kailin starts in L10, with Sunahl in L11, I think?

Kailin and Sunahl enter the arena with few dramatics.

The half-elf smoothly draws a katana from the sheath at his side, and holds it before him, light glinting off the blade. He looks fairly fit to use it, as well. He wears leather lamellar armor, and also possesses a crossbow and a longspear, still unreadied. A spell component hangs at his side, along with another further back but also within reach.

Sunahl stands up on his hind legs as he takes a look around, his body seeming surprisingly stable, despite looking as though he would be a bit top-heavy in such a stance. After a moment, he drops back to all fours, and shakes himself back and forth, the mane going down his back whipping from side to side, and the horns on his head blurring with the motion. (Actually, I think I forgot to list them on the profile.)

Both set themselves to fighting stances, and ready to face their opponent.

Arbiter:
Kailin Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Sunahl Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

20 for Kailin and 16 for Sunahl on Initiatives.

Male

Arbiter:

Inititive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

13 on Init

A shimmering translucent figure of a snake appears around Falcon, it even actually makes a hissing sound. Inside Falcon although looking frail just smiles, makes no such grand gestures. Rather he has an intense focus - ready to defeat his opponent.

Male Half-Elf

Sunahl smirks. "Heh, now you're looking a bit more intimidating," he remarks.

Kailin makes a few gestures with his free hand, causing blue sparks to jump across it, before pressing it against the eidolon's back, where it diffuses to a soft glow and fades out. Sunahl takes a step in front of the half-elf, and growls, tense for battle.

Spellcraft 16 for the spell cast:
Shield.

Arbiter:
Sunahl is readying an action to claw Falcon (or any enemy, I suppose), if within range.

Sunahl is in K10 (in front of Kailin at L10), and Falcon's up.

Male

Falcon mumbles a spell in return and moves slightly to the east.

Spellcraft - DC 16:

Mage Armor

Falcon is at location A13

Male Half-Elf

Just of note, having cast a spell, do you have some way of 5-foot stepping more than, er, 5 feet? Otherwise, I think you'd be at A12 (or B12)? I'll make my actions keeping in the possibility of you being at either of those instead.
.
Anyway though, Round 1

Arbiter:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Kailin repeats the gesture, but casts the spell on himself this time, before moving to the side, pressing his back against one of the pillars. Same spell/DC as above, and Kailin heads to K12.

Sunahl crouches and breaks in a different direction, heading more towards the center of the arena, but keeping obstructions between himself and Falcon. Over to G12, though if you would like to reassess where you are after the surprise round action, let me know. That might affect him as well.

Arbiter:
Sunahl readying to attack again, should it be activated.

And you're up once more. Let me know if you want to change your location from the surprise round.

Male

Forgive me, I thought that there was no surprise round and we started on round 1, so yeah I would have only gotten a 5' step B-12

Falcon again casts a spell, and moves into the middle of the arena, a path that should be well out of reach of the silly pet.

Arbiter or Spellcraft 16:

Shield

Falcon moves to G9

We good?

Male Half-Elf

Yep, all good :P
.
Round 2

Arbiter:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Sunahl roars, leaping from the ground and moving around Falcon, his feet only barely touching the ground for traction as he slides into position.

Simultaneously, Kailin rushes forward as he grips the katana in both hands, coming up upon the fused beings from the opposite side, before they both attack.

First off, I'm thinking Falcon likely has reach? If so, these movements will provoke, but... Kailin delays his turn to after Sunahl. Sunahl moves to F9, then readies to attack once Kailin is in flanking position. Kailin moves to H9, triggering Sunahl's attack, which if that hits, he'll attempt a grapple. Either way, Kailin will then make his own attack.
.
So...

Arbiter:
Sunahl's Claw Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Claw Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Grapple Attempt, if the Claw hit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Assuming Flanking bonus applies.
Kailin's Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Katana Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Alright, I'm a bit unsure of the rolling here, as there was a discussion previously involving something along these lines. I'll get into more detail on that in the actual discussion thread, so for now I'll just give the numbers as I think they make sense.
.
Sunahl's got 15 to hit (Flanking bonuses already applied, though this still seems unlikely to hit), but if it does, 7 damage, and a CMB check of 30 to initiate a grapple. Kailin's got 25 to hit, with 11 damage if it does.
.
Afterwards, Falcon will be up (unless a bunch of things get changed based on your AoO's or other possibilities). Kailin and Sunahl should have him flanked at F9, G9, and H9, across the 3 of them.

Edit: Whoops, actually, Kailin's damage should be 1 higher for 12, I think. My bad.

Male

Yeah, we will need to take this one step at a time.

"Finally some action" Falcon says as he is being approached.

As his enemies approach the snake head lashes out at them.

Arbiter:

AOO #1 - Sunahl
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

AOO #2 - Kailin
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

AOO vs Sunahl - 15 to hit, 5 to damage if it hit, 25 to trip if hit
AOO vs Kailin - 12 to hit, 5 to damage if hit, 8 to trip if hit.

edit - One moment, editing after reading the clarification that was posted on the discussion forums

edit 2 - finnished. Pretty sure a whole lot of nothing just happened

Falcon snaps twice at the incoming assualts, but the two coming in at once distracts him and he can't seem to land a blow.

Although there are a couple of close calls there are walls of force around him that deflect the incoming attacks.

Male

Falcon does a small move and unleashes a rain of blows upon Kailin.

5' step to H10

Arbiter:

Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Bite-Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Sting: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Tail Slap: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Attacks:
Bite - 19, Bite (Trip) - 20, Damage - 4
Sting - 12, Damage - 3
Tail Slap - 4, Damage - 7

Male Half-Elf

Yowch, not even the 25 hit? Oof, I was worried you'd put your AC up mega high, and it seems I was right to be :/ Well, at least none of your attacks hit either. Now, c'mon nat 20's XD
.
Round 3

Kailin steps to follow the shimmering figure, and keeps him a threatened position with Sunahl, as they both attack.

Same deal as before but reversed, Kailin 5-foot steps to I10, readies to attack, and Sunahl 5-foot steps afterwards to G10, triggering Kailin's attack and then full attacking himself.

Arbiter:
Kailin's Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Katana Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Sunahl's Claw 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Claw Damage 1: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grab 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

Sunahl's Claw 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Claw Damage 2: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Grab 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Sunahl's Gore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Gore Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

If 25 didn't hit earlier, then these are pretty much certain not to, but:
Attack - To-hit, Damage, Grab check
Katana - 13, 7
Claw 1 - Crit Fail actually
Claw 2 - 22, 6, 16
Gore - 10, 4
.
Yeah, definitely none of those hit then. You're up.

Male

Falcon will try and move away from the frenzy.

Assuming he isn't grappled in a lucky claw AOO he will then pull out a glass vial.

Arbiter:

Enlarge Person Potion

Move to H4

Male Half-Elf

Well, AoO's from the two of them then, first off. I assume flanking bonus still applies, since it's an attack caused by Falcon leaving the flanked spot... correct?

Arbiter:
Kailin's AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Sunahl's AoO w/ Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grab Check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

11 and 19, misses assumedly, so you're free to go. Hmm...
.
Round 4

Kailin and Sunahl spend a moment in silent exhange, before Sunahl snarls and rushes forward. Rather than making any direct attack, he twists his body around, seeking to restrain Falcon.

You'll receive two opportunities for AoO's, one from Sunahl moving up to you, and the second for him initiating the grapple without using his claw attack. Assuming you have Combat Reflexes or something since you were able to attack both of them earlier, that actually will give you two AoO's on him. However, if he's not unconscious or otherwise incapacitated by that point, grapple check versus your CMD.

Arbiter:
Sunahl Grapple CMB: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

*Facepalm* For a magnificent result of 13. Kailin's actions would change depending on whether it succeeded or not, but I'm going to assume it didn't.

Kailin adopts a defensive stance, blade held to parry, and moves around the side of Falcon, keeping his distance.

Total Defense, then he moves over to J5, avoiding moving through any of your threatened squares (don't think that's particularly difficult actually, for where he's going).
.
You're up.

Falcon, potentially awkward question, but... do you have arms?

Male

Yes, or I would not be able to cast any spells. If I may ask a question of my own. Gore? What would possibly make that a good evolution choice. A quadraped would get bite, and you add claws. If you added legs to a biped why not just make it a bite and save yourself an evolution point.

Also on a more rulesy note total defense is a full round action. You can only make a 5' step.

SRD wrote:

Total Defense

You can defend yourself as a standard action. You get a +4 dodge bonus to your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action. You can't combine total defense with fighting defensively or with the benefit of the Combat Expertise feat. You can't make attacks of opportunity while using total defense.

You might be thinking of Fighting Defensively, which can emulate a full attack (thereby being a full-round action).
.
Also, yes, I realize Gore is suboptimal. I was bouncing between that and bite (he's a Biped base), but he's modeled on a Sky dragon, which has a Gore attack. I plan on giving him bite later, but for now, he had enough evo points for Gore, so he took that first. The difference is relatively small I think, but your understand your assessment, and do agree with it. Just wanted to do something a bit different :P
.
Edit: Ninja!

Male

Huh... I could have sworn it was full round.

More bites fly out at the approaching beast however Falcon wasn't quite ready to be bear hugged. He squirms out of the way the snake head going out of control.

arbiter:

Bite on approach: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Bite on Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

A pair of 13s on the bite attempts. Damages, 3 and 4. Nat 20'd one trip attempt and I weep tears, 16 on another.

Falcon moves towards the summoner and will do the same tatic that has been tried against him.

Move to k6

arbiter:

1d20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Nat 20 for 25. You're grappled.

Male Half-Elf

Could I have a run through of what happened there? You were at H4, while Sunahl was at H5 (Edit: Just realized, I forgot to actually post his location before) and Kailin was at J5. To get to K6, you'll have needed to go past both of them, provoking AoO's unless you used Acrobatics or something (or just wanted to take a 5-foot step to someplace closer, like I4, which is feasible).
.
And, if you did that as a CMB check (which seems to be what you're implying), do you have a way to avoid AoO's on it?

Male

Your pet gets one AOO due to movement. You used total defense - No AOOs for you.

Male Half-Elf

Ah, so you just took the one from Sunahl, and continued past them. Got it. Well, he will indeed attack for that.

Arbiter:
Sunahl's Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

23 on attack, but I take it that won't hit.
.
Round 5

Kailin grits his teeth as Falcon takes hold of him, but strikes out, even while trying to keep himself safe. Sunahl moves around, and gets into position to also attack.

Kailin switches grip to one-handed and swings defensively, since he likely needs a nat 20 to hit anyway. Sunahl moves to K7 and attacks as well, though he doesn't do it defensively.

Arbiter:
Kailin's Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 -2 from Fighting Defensively, -2 From Grappled
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Sunahl's Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grab?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 I'm... not really sure what would happen if this succeeded.

Edit: Whoops, my bad, Kailin's got 21 to hit, rather than 23. Mixed up the modifiers on his attack and damage. Either way, likely to be a miss.
.
Sunahl only has 19 to hit. I am curious though... what would happen if he grappled Falcon, while Falcon was grappling Kailin... ?_?
.
Anyway, you're up.

Male

It's possible. We'd get a grapple ball :)

Falcon continues to grip Kailin.

Arbiter:

Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
bite damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

20 to Maintain the grapple, should be good enough. 7 bite damage. Trip from the bite is a critical miss

Male Half-Elf

Round 6
.
Hmm, continuing as is for now. Attack from Kailin, and full attack from Sunahl, using his horns first, in case the later ones initiate a grapple. No defense for Kailin this time though.

Arbiter:
Kailin's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Sunahl's Gore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Sunahl's Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Sunahl's Claw 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Gore Confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Well now. Kailin missed at 18. However, Sunahl's Gore is a nat 20 for 8 damage, though definitely not a confirmation. His 1st claw is 23 to hit for 6 damage and a nat 20 on the grab, but I'm figuring it probably doesn't hit. However, his second claw is a 26 (not a nat 20 though) for 5 damage, with a Grab check of 18.
.
So, 8 damage from a natural 20, and if 26 hits your grappled AC, 5 more damage and an 18 vs. your CMD to start a grapple.
.
We might just get a grapple chain goin' on here XD You're up.

Male

26 is good enough to hit in this case, however I feel that you are adding flanking, which shouldn't apply. You have to threaten to flank and people in a grapple don't threaten. Please confirm.

Male

Falcon is grappled. He takes the damage to himself rather then have his edilion suit be harmed.

Falcon tries to ignore the beast mauling him and continues to focus on the controller.

Arbiter:

Maintain the grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
bite damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

26 to maintain. 4 bite damage. 11 to trip

Male Half-Elf

Well, people in a grapple do count for flanking actually, from what I understand (click here for thread, I checked it out when you first initiated the grapple... though in retrospect, Sunahl was originally built with grappling in mind, so I probably should have confirmed it earlier >_> ).
.
Anyway though, in this case, nope, no flanking bonus was added, because they aren't positioned to do so (Kailin's still at J5, you're at K6, and Sunahl's at K7). Since Kailin can't move, a flanking position for Sunahl (L7) would put him around a corner, meaning you'd have cover from him and just be that much harder to hit anyway (though I guess it would make it a bit easier for Kailin, but he's already at low odds, so eh). But yeah, 26 is the correct number.
.
So now that we've got a grapple chain here, what exactly is happening? Would you be taking the penalties for grappling twice and/or be taking the usual penalties on continuing the grapple with Kailin? I know grappled says you take no penalties on actual grapples, but I imagine that was probably made with only a 1v1 scenario in mind.
.
Hmm, well the trip does not go through though. I'm gonna hold off on their next turn until after I figure out what exactly is going on in this grappling case though. If you know, feel free to explain, otherwise I'm wondering if Jehova might weigh in as well.

Male

Huh, weapon focus and a belt then.

Wow, I'm making tons of mistakes this combat. I've always played by you don't threaten if your denied making AOOs. The thread linked seems wrong to me but I'll accept it if that's the ruling.

I'm grappling your summoner while your edilion is grappling me. We all have the grappled condition, but you don't you don't take more penalties for having the same condition twice. That's how I understand it anyway.

Male Half-Elf

In regards to penalties from the same thing twice: Normally yes, so I'd be inclined to agree with you. But penalties in general do stack I think (almost all penalties are untyped, as far as I know), and in this case, they aren't the same source, per se - you're grappled once with Kailin and once with Sunahl, which might result in the penalties stacking? At the very least, I'd like some official (that is, for this arena) clarification for the scenario, just to make sure, because if they do, Kailin would probably try to attack while Sunahl is still grappling (as it would put Falcon's AC at -4 rather than -2, and every little bit seems important on this guy :P ).
.
Edit: Actually, I don't know if I explained that so well. Basically, the way I'm seeing it is that generally conditions don't stack because you can't have them twice. If something were to inflict the sickened condition on you while you already were sickened, it wouldn't matter, because you can't get it a second time. Since grappling is a more of a person-to-person thing that persists, I could understand it perhaps working differently.
.
As I said, I'm mostly in agreement with your assessment, as it is listed as a condition, and being grappled from two people is probably pretty much the same as being grappled by one. So, I'm leaning towards saying the penalties wouldn't stack, but it seems like a bit of a curious case.
.
That said, it's probably not actually worth delaying the fight over, so I'll go ahead and post their next actions, under the assumption that grappled is the same regardless of how many times you're grappled.

Male Half-Elf

Round 7

As Sunahl twists around, keeping a grip on Falcon, Kailin makes another slash with his katana, before the dragon kicks off and unleashes a series of attacks again, while their opponent continues struggling with the half-elf.

Kailin attacks, then Sunahl releases the grapple as a free action and full attacks (starting with Gore, once again), possibly beginning a grapple again... though I'm not sure I'd actually care if he did... Anyway:

Arbiter:
Kailin's Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Sunahl's Gore: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Sunahl's Claw 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Sunahl's Claw 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

...what the...? Frickin' luck dragon over here, apparently.

Gore Confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Claw 1 Confirmation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Okay, Sunahl's apparently being quite lucky now. Kailin missed, very much so, but Sunahl's Gore and his first claw attack are both nat 20's. The Gore definitely didn't confirm (in fact, it crit failed to confirm), but the claw has 22. Finally, his second claw is a 20 to hit, which I would guess doesn't. Although if it does, he's got 24 on the grab attempt. His first claw only had 11 on the grab, and even if it did succeed, he would have dropped the grapple immediately to finish his attacks without a penalty.
.
So, ignoring Kailin's definite miss, I'll let you piece these together:
Gore, Nat 20, 9 Damage, Crit Fail to confirm
Claw 1, Nat 20, 4 Damage, 22 to Confirm, 6 Crit Damage, 11 to Grab but again he would drop it if it succeeded anyway.
Claw 2, 20 to hit, 4 Damage, 24 to Grab
.
After the attack, Sunahl will 5-foot step to L7 to provide temp flanking for Kailin's next turn (unless Falcon moves or something).
.
You're up then.

Male

Falcon continues to bear hug the enemy summoner. Trying to extinguish the life from his body.

Arbiter:

Maintain the Grapple:: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

A pair of 15s on the maintain and bite attemps, 4 damage on the the bite if it suceedes. It's very close - my back of the envelope math and guesses on your stats puts you at 17 or 18 CMB, but you have a -4 dex due to the grapple which should put you at 15 I guess we will see.

Falcon will move to the other side of your summoner if the grapple is released (take AOOs as appropriate)

Male Half-Elf

You should only need one check, yes? That is, if you maintain the grapple (which yes, you did), you can inflict the bite damage without needing any roll.
.
Round 8
.
Kailin's gonna go total defense, while Sunahl initiates normally, after 5-foot stepping back to his previous position (K7).

Arbiter:
Sunahl's Grapple Maneuver: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

And that's a 15 vs. your CMD (with the relevant Dex Penalty)to do so.

As Falcon's jaws bite down for another hit, Kailin takes a more defensive stance, holding his sword to keep the offender off of him. Sunahl snarls and leaps forward, coiling around and attempting to break the grip.

Male

Not much time left today for posting, I have some traveling I need to do so I'll pose one question - does grappling/maintaining a grapple on a prone target give a +4 on the manuaver?

Male Half-Elf

Not positive, but I would assume so. I've generally heard around the boards that combat maneuvers count as attack rolls in almost all cases, so unless you're trying a ranged grapple, I believe the +4 from Prone would count (and if you were somehow trying a ranged grapple, you'd instead have -4 from Prone :P ).
.
And no worries on any delay time, I'm fine with that. Life happens :)

Male

Sorry, that should have read 'a pair of 15s on the maintain and TRIP attempts, 4 damage on the bite'. That's what I get for trying for fancy wording when I was in a hurry. The numbers were rolled correctly with appropriate descriptions if an arbiter wants to take a look. So if the grapple worked the trip probably does too unless you have a specific modifier against trips.

Falcon is not grappled. He narrowly avoids getting hugged by your faux dragon.

Assuming you are tripped

Falcon sensing an opportunity on his opponent now on the ground he will release the grapple and go for a full attack on the prone summoner. Biting and lashing out with his deadly tail, while slowly moving, trying to get better positioning.

Arbiter:

Bite: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 4 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Sting: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 4 = 29
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Sting Confirm: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 4 = 23
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Tail Slap: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Summary: Bite critically misses, Sting critically hits - 4 damage. Confirming critical - 23 for 6 damage. Tail Slap goes wild with a 12 to hit, which would hav been 7 damage.

5' move to I6

Male Half-Elf

Oh, okay, I probably should have realized you meant the trip attempt on the other 15.
.
Sting critical confirms, and I assume you mean the critical is adding 6 damage for a total of 10? Which brings the damage he's sustained so far up to 21, if I've got everything correct. Kailin is fairly well bloodied, but not down yet.
.
Edit: Whoops, 25 damage I mean, there was another 4, I think. Which puts him at quite bloodied, but still not down.
.
Round 9

Kailin gasps as the stinger pierces him, but successfully avoids the rest of the attacks, even with his limited mobility after being knocked to the ground.

Sunahl darts forward, twisting around to avoid retaliation from Falcon, as he moves behind him, then tries once more to get a grip on him.

Sunahl moves to H6 to gain Flanking with Kailin, using Acrobatics to avoid AoO's and then attempts to grapple again (targeting CMD). You will get an AoO for that however.

Arbiter:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Grapple: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

14 on the Acrobatics, so you probably get that, 22 on the grapple, and I'd be very surprised if that doesn't initiate one (although, if your AoO while he attempts it hits him, he will take a penalty on the grapple attempt, if I recall correctly).
.
If the grapple does go through, Kailin will stand (not provoking from you, since you'd be grappled), switch his hold back to two-handed and attack, then 5-foot step to K8 (still in your threatened range, but somewhat farther away).
.
If the grapple does not succeed, then some actions might change, but that's the plan. I'll roll Kailin's attack now, in case it all goes off as effectively as I hope it will.

Arbiter:
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Bah, 12 to hit, not happening. At any rate, let me know how it all pans out then. I'm not sure what they'll do exactly if it doesn't work out as I had hoped, but I guess we'll see.

Male

Falcon snake head lashes out at the approaching beast.

Arbiter:

AOO #1 bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

AOO #2 bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Summary - AOO #1 18 to hit, 6 damage, 16 on the trip attempt. AOO #2 - 9 to hit, 5 damage, 24 on the trip attempt

Falcon is unable to hit the creature and it grabs him.

Funny enough, if I was able to land the first attack and trip then the -6 modifier (prone and no flanking) would have been enough

My turn
Seeing your summoner within reach Hawk will reach out with his long neck trying to take a bite out of your flesh while his tail will slaps around his attacker, trying to get him off.

Full Attack, bite with reach against you, tail slap and sting on your pet

arbiter:

Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Sting: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Tail Slap: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Confirm Critical Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Summary - Bite threatens a critical, 6 damage, 18 on the trip. It fails to confirm with a 12. Tail is mostly useless. The sting is 16 to hit with 5 to damage. The tail slap is 12 to hit, 4 damage.

And lets hope that's the end

Falcon bites Kailin and lets out a small roar.

Male Half-Elf

Oof, what timing for a nat 20. Next turn, he'd have likely been gone to let you duke it out with Sunahl for awhile. But yep, 6 damage will make him unconscious, so that's game.

As the teeth catch him, Kailin reels back, staggering to his knees before collapsing on the ground. Simultaneously, Sunahl shudders and lets out a roar of pain before he dissipates into a thunderous stormcloud and vanishes.

Good match, that was rough :P

Male

Yeah, really good fight. I learned alot and I suspect that you would have won if you came equipped with tanglefoot bags and alchemist fire. Now if you excuse me I need to go buy a composite bow in case my next pairing is against a gnome flying around on a roc

Male Half-Elf

Funny enough, I could have just had Kailin actually walk away, rather than 5-foot stepping, since you couldn't take AoO's at the time. I kind of forgot that you had reach until I was almost done posting, then figured with just 1 attack and being grappled, the odds of avoiding getting hit probably weren't that bad. Go figure, right? |P
.
But yeah, that was a cool match. And ha, yes good luck if you run into the flying gnome ;)

End of Bout One
VICTORY TO FALCON

Challenge Bout
BRUNO VS. SHIGEHARU

Arbiter:
Init 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Init = 13

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno walks in about the same as always. There is one major difference, however. Instead of carrying a lance in his hand, he wields a loaded sling. His lance is strapped to Esmeralda's saddle.

arbiter:

init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Init:6

I forgot to put in my description, so I'll do that now. I start at L11, right? Here goes:

The dark-haired lithe man enters the arena smoothly and calmly, wearing long silken robes with a dark vest over them. The light catches small bits of metal shining on the vest. He surveys the crowd briefly with a glance before turning to his opponent--he looks sideways at the camel, but bows to the dwarf nonetheless. He holds a parchment in his hand, and a bandolier of vials is secured across his chest. A few spears are slung over one shoulder in a quiver, and a long-handled sword is sheathed over the other, attached to his wrist by a cord.

The swordsman steps behind the pillar and...does something.

5 ft to K12, other action hidden.

Visible weapons--spears, katana. Visible armor--robes.

Thanks for playing me, and good luck!

Arbiter:
5ft move to K12, standard: Cast spell from scroll. Swift action: draw CL2 scroll from spring-loaded wrist sheath.

The starting squares are A11 in the north, L10 in the south.

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno edges forward (D-E/10-11), gently slinging his sling vertically at his side.

Spoiler:

Move up, readied action to attack as soon as he is spotted again

Whoops, I thought it was L11. If I was at L10, then I would have moved to K9 instead of K12, since I wanted to move behind the pillar. You ok with that, Bruno? Either way, it shouldn't matter for my next turn.

Turn 1

The swordsman does not emerge from behind the pillar.

Arbiter:
Move: draw scroll of Mirror Image. Standard: Cast it, add 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 images. Shield rounds remaining: (9/10), Images remaining: (5/5)

Back to you.

If Bruno moves to be able to see K9:
There are now 6 Shigeharus, moving around one location.

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno is unwilling to abandon his experimental strategy just yet, and holds his ground.

Spoiler:

Attack is still prepared. I'll roll it here
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
I realized that my attack modifier on the character sheet was in error. This is correct
damage: 1d4 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Round 2

Sadly, Shigeharu respects the dwarf's prowess and does not show himself...yet.

Arbiter:
Free action: Drop Scroll. Move action: Draw Mage Armor scroll. Standard action: Cast Mage Armor from scroll. Shield rounds remaining: (8/10), Mirror Image Rounds remaining: (29/30), Images remaining: (5/5), Mage Armor rounds remaining: (60/60), Arcane Pool remaining: (4/4), Consumable wealth used: (200 gp /225 gp)
