Related to the am I too old thread. This asks when you started tabletop gaming and with what edition; with the aim to find out who started the youngest.

AD&D at the tender age of 7.

AD&D @ 8 -- Azmyth has me beat by a year, dammit. I might have played a Basic Set game at 7, but I don't really remember for sure...

the white book 12 yrs old 1976 ( yeah i am 49 and still playing)

Tabletop gaming in Italy began quite late, around 1983 if i recall correctly.
I started with the first italian edition of basic D&D around 1986, age 15; not sure what american edition it was the translation thought.
I'm speaking of the edition divided in 5 boxes:(basic, expert, companion, master and immortal rules)

My considerably older cousin gave the D&D advanced rules blue book to my brother and me when I was 6. We went from there.

I started with the old Blue box Basic set back in 1979 at the age of 12 and started teaching my son at the age of 10, 4 years ago.

I know I'm not the youngest but 4th ED, (not for long) at 18

I started at the age of around 10 with Basic D&D.

Age 8 (back in '93) with Dark Sun.

1978 1st Ed. I was 8,

I was in my second tri-mester (oh wait, no) I was 15 (1977), but I couldn't have started when I was 8, as D&D didn't exist then.

Sovereign Court

At the age of 11.

I was doing Gamma World when I was 9. That would have been... Autumn 1983.

I started with AD&D 2e when I was 15, in 2003.

2e AD&D in...'94ish. I'd never DM it again, but the artwork and settings beat the pants off of anything that I've seen since.

This may be the wrong forum, if you're looking for the most long-time gamer; Old Geezer on RPGnet played in some of Gary's original games. I've read a few very funny, interesting, and revealing stories about D&D's first days from him.

Liberty's Edge

Castles and Crusades. I was 11.

Original D&D in late 1974 as a 15 year old.

2nd Ed in 1992 when I was 16.

AD&D when I was 11. I bow down to Azmyth however, he he.

Red book Basic Set D&D. I think it was 1982, so I would have been 12. I still have the d20 and d4 from that set!

Basic set, Red Box DnD around 1982-ish. I would have been around age 11. I still have the box and the rule book. Dice from it are long gone..... I had the expert (blue) box as well. Not sure what happened to it.

Sigh, I was already in college by the time I started playing. My brother came back from the Navy and introduced me to it. Apparently it was played a lot on ships at sea for months in the 70s.

Yeah me too. Probably D&D at about 8. It is a little fuzzy, but I still remember my first character.

One thing though, this was so long ago that while there was plenty of AD&D material thrown in, it was still D&D. My brother, who taught me the game had been involved for a long time. He had some of the really old stuff, with bits and pieces taken from AD&D and added. When I and others got into 3.0, we brought a lot of residue over from previous pieces. Just like old geezer on rpg net: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?529439-Old-Geezer-A-history-lesson-plea se/page8

Blue Box when I was 10.

4e at... 16? I can't recall exactly. 4 or so years ago, anyway.

My first tabletop game in general was not actually D&D, I should note. I started at about 15 with Star Wars Saga Edition.

Grand Lodge

Holmes Boxed set, sometime around 1980 or 1981, at age 10 or 11 respectively...

8 and my brother was 6. After I got the 1e Player's Handbook and Monster Manuel, 2nd edition came out shortly after. Oh, the nerdrage of a 10 yr old child!

The Exchange

I first got into role-play when I was 12/13 (1998/99) with the World of Darkness system, after that I started playing Traveller when I was 17 (2003) and then eventually started on D&D with version 3.0 when I was 19 (2005).

Or turnips. Yeah.

I picked up the red box D&D when I was seven or eight. I think I was playing some Drakar och Demoner before then, though. I'm fuzzy on the exact timing.

Too long ago.
