I am new to Pathfinder Society, but not Pathfinder itself and I was wondering about the retrain feature.
It says under the retrain part of Chapter 2:
"Before you level up a character for the first time, you may change any
aspect of it except its Pathfinder Society Number."
Does this mean I can retrain my race and traits or does this only apply to retraining skills and classes?

Everything. You can start from scratch if you want.

I only ask because you aren't the first person I've seen with this question, but do you have any suggestions on how this could be made more clear? Thank you for taking the time to read the Guide before asking your question. You'd (probably not) be surprised how many people don't.

Yes, essentially, it gives you the opportunity to try something and if you don't find yourself liking it, switching it up until you play a scenario post-level 1. I'm playing in a first steps play by post that I haven't cared for the build of my character and have rebuilt him in between each session.

I think that it is clear as written. It is just an unusual enough process that new players want to be sure that they are not abusing the system.
