Dare to walk the Way of the Wicked?

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 58 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I am going to start running the Way of the Wicked AP, and I need two or three more players. To keep it simple, and see what kind of ideas you guys can come up with, I will allow everything on D20, with the exception of 3pp things. It's not to say that isn't allowed, but you will need to run it by me first. I would like to play Thursdays, 7/8-11 CST, and will begin play the week after I have made my selections. As to the means of play, I will look into several online systems, and get back to you on that. I will post more about the rest of your character building later, but now I must go.

So, we're playing 20 point buy, each increase costs 1 until 15, and 2 fr 16-18. You can increase a score to 20 if your modifiers give it a minus 2. Remember that you can subtract from scores to add points to your total. We will likely be playing with roll20. I will leave it up to you for your backstory, but you must have a reason for being sent to Branderscar prison. You will not be starting with gear, and will have no use for starting gold, so you don't need to worry about that. Players start at level 1. Recruitment will last until Monday at noon CST. Playing time will be switched to either Fridays or Saturdays to make it easier on the players, and myself. I will have my decisions made for the party by Tuesday at noon. See you then. I will answer all questions you might have.

Are you wanting to use voice software or no?

We can use Skype or the Roll20 system for talking.

Ok. My wife and I might be interested but I've got bad tmj and she doesn't like talking on the computer.

Fortunately, I prefer typing for most things, but when I have a long set f text to go through, I will probably just say it instead of typing it out, but I don't mind if you guys play through text.

Ok. I'll run it by my wife and see. So no focus foible but instead 20 point buy. Are we using traits at all, like the ones provided in the player's portion of the book?

Any limitations on class?

There aren't any campaign traits, if that's what your asking, but take two traits. Not really any limitation on classes except no good alligned.

Ok. I'll have to get my wife's choices decided, but I am curious. Are there any other folks in the group already? If so, what are they playing? And is there a page setup on roll20? Also, my wife has not played Pathfinder before, but I figured that Way of the Wicked would be a good way for her to learn the game, since there is so much more freedom in being evil. *cackles*

Haven't set up a page. I have one other person, but they want to wait until everyone else is set with their characters to decide what he's playing. We still need one more other than you two.

Can anti-paladins in your game be something other than CE?

Yes

Ok. I think my wife wants to play an anti-paladin. Not sure what I'm thinking of playing yet.

I've ALWAYS wanted to do an evil PC, but none of my GMs would ever let it slide unless I went with the "lesser of two evils" or "seeking redemption" cliches.

Would Psionics be ok? If so, I'd like to play a Gnoll Dread. Very Freddy Krueger-meets-The Joker type of character, stalking his victims, using their fear to torment them, laughing maniacly, until the game inevitably grows boring and he disposes of them to find a new toy.
If psionics is out, a Dhampir Sin Eater Inquisiter in service to Charon would be a ton of fun, always seeking a more esquisite flavor of sin to enjoy (and soul, since he would be taking the Soul Eater PrC as soon as he qualifies.)

I think it would be interesting to see how the Dread works out. It's fine with me, but link me all of the 3pp feats taken apart from those gained from a class ability.

Thinking I'm gonna play a scarred witch doctor, but would you allow it as another race?

What race?

Human or Half-Orc

Are there any other classes you were looking at?

Maybe Oracle or bard (bard is a rough one for me). I considered cavalier or inquisitor but wasn't sure how useful they'd be. Possibly considering monk.

OK. Since the Scarred Witch Doctor is a racial archetype, I would like to see what you could come up with for either the Monk or the Oracle. If you can't think of something, the go ahead with the Half-Orc WD. I'm guessing Monk is probably out, unless your an Ex-Monk, which would make the beginning a real pain in the ass for you, but would be interesting for RP, since you have to have a reason for being sent to a prison in which the only three outcomes are wait three days to have your head cut off/burned at the stake, wait for the inquisition, or be shipped off to the salt mines.

So far: We have an Anti-Paladin, an Engineer, a Gnoll Dread, and possibly a Monk, a Witch, or an Oracle (Person hasn't decided). I have made a page, but I haven't done anything with it. When the party is set, I will link the invite.

Don't forget that recruitment is still open and that there are still three potential spots to be filled.

Hello, I am interested in joining. If I played I would probably be a Dwarf (Duergar if allowed) Foehammer fighter. Also what nights/days would game be on? I'm open every night save for Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday . Thank you for considering me.

Decided now. I'll be LE monk (Hand of Tyranny archetype). Still deciding on race right at the moment.

Now that we have more applicants than spots in the party, I am going to have to ask those who have posted, and those posting in the future to give me your backstories. These backstories must include a reason for being thrown in the prison mentioned above.

Duergar is allowed, in fact there is a whole alternate campaign option where everyone is a duergar.

Are you wanting just a basic backstory? Or something full fleshed out?

I would prefer it to be as detailed as you could, but it's really just to see which character would be more suited to the campaign.

I think I'll have to revise my character, at least his race. Why would a gnoll even get a trial to begin with?
So I'm changing him to a tiefling. I know, a tiefling gone bad is hardly unexpected, but who better to use fear as a weapon than one who has known it all his life?

Also, just to be sure our times match up well enough for me to play, I typically get home from work around 7:00 PM EST.

No problem. I'll flesh both my wife and I out as a pair. Hopefully we'll both make it in.

@Dragon Knight: The timezone difference should be fine.

Ok, so I'll have the info to you tomorrow on background. But I have changed it a bit. Wife is wanting to go with antipally (with an archetype from the people who make Way of the Wicked called Lord of Garlic. And I'm going to change to cleric, and if you would allow it, I'd like to go with the archetype of Fiendish Vessel. Obviously, both would be with your permission, but I think they'd be a great fit, considering they were made specifically for the game, by the folks who made it. If the archetypes are approved, I'll have backgrounds written together.

Lols, it's called Lord of Darkness, not Lord of Garlic. Yeah, I don't think the changes should be a problem. I've looked at them while I was reading through the adventure, they seem fine.

lol Well, I guess that shows what happens when I'm watching Food Network and talking to someone about the funniest scenes in The Lost Boys. Still immensely funny. If she was playing a dhamphir, I would SO call her Lord of Garlic, just for fun.

Tieflingx2=wicked evil fun times.

May I ask what heritage your considering or are you just thinking basic tiefling? I'm considering Kyton-spawn if it wouldnt be too problematic. Also, with permission I'h like one of the variant tiefling abilities to replace my spell-like ability. Specifically #36 (you can communicate telepathically with any sentient creature with which you are in contact) to represent his ability to worm into people's minds and sew doubt and mistrust.

Ok. Where did you get 2 Tieflings from? I think you're still the only one.

Fiendish Vessel is tiefling specific.

Oh. OK

I would be very interested in joining this campaign. unfortunately I'm in a bit of a rush right now so I wont be able to post anymore until later tonight, I just wanted to get my name in.

As I stated, recruitment is open until Monday, noon CST

Should we post our backstories or PM them to you?

A very good question.

PM them to me.

Just PM-ed the one for the wife & I. Anything I need to improve on?

It seems fine for the most part. Might be interesting to see how a party of Tieflings works out.

We would definitely be the Devil's children. And no doubt it'd solidify a group of evil folks together. Cause even if our characters escaped, there's really no way at all to hide as a tiefling.

If recruitment is still open I'd like to throw my hat into the ring as a Human Urban Neutral Evil Druid named Marcus Black. Only consider me if you definitely need one more player. I can make the designated time but it will take some work and I'll have to insist on turning into a pumpkin at 11 CST sharp. On the other hand I've never been able to play an evil character before. I've just joined the forum so I'm not sure about the frequency of games coming up.

It was a night of terror and revalation. Marcus had become lost in the Wild Woods and a storm of unnatural ferocity had descended on the ravine in which he sheltered. As lightning plied the area, he prayed for deliverence. First to the gods of the realm and then to whoever would hear his plea. His lamentations had no effect and indeed hail soon began to fall and the roar of a tornado approached. Grasping to whatever cover he could find he screamed with rage at the elements. Suddenly he felt a dark presence and a horned figure that offered him deliverence at a price. He must destroy the noble houses of the land.
That was five years ago. Marcus has grown into quite an attractive young lad. The dark figure still appears to him at night when the moon is dark and has taught him how to survive in the wilds, how to make the animals do his bidding, and most important what plants are poisonous. He was able to seduce several of the local girls into worshiping this dark diety. While they worked on perfecting their skills at poisoning, Marcus worked to worm his way into the household of the local nobles. It worked, soon he gathered two of the local baron's daughters into his coven. This was his undoing however as his growing group attracted the attention of a band of witch hunters. They wiped out his group, killing all the non noble members, the two noble daughters have been sent to a nunnery and he has been sent to prison to await the inevitable justice.

Thanks!

I'm thinking instead probably a Tiefling Magus (yay 3 tieflings walk into a jail.....) and I'll form the back story here in a couple of minutes.

Recrutiment is now closed. Jimmy, get me your backstory by tomorrow. I will have the party selected then.
