I've been working on the idea of a spell slinger for a while. And my latest creation.. Blending together gun and sword.. Desperado
Okay, what is a unicorn Sileni? well its a race my Gm is allowing me to play. Course other than good stats, it doesn't add much. So lets focus on somethings here..
Why Myrmidarch? Well there is the Range spell strike, and the ability to move at full speed while in heavy armor.
Why Range Spell Strike - cause the only thing that makes shooting spells through a gun cooler, is when you also have bullets coming with it too. Though, mostly its the armor I'm after.
However I've got a large number of options, and I can actually use range spell strike with a full attack, while in melee.
So any sort of thoughts?

I designed (with the help of Cheapy) a Shootist magus, combining some Gunslinger deeds converted to Magus abilities, a deck of cards as a spellbook, ranged spell trike instead of normal spell strike (not as higher level spellstrike, instead of spell recall). 2 handed spellstrike at higher levels, though cannot fire second pistol if casting spells. Swerve Bullet at 11th granting 'deflect arrows' ability to oncoming bullets without using your hand. It's a homebrew though, so it might not help you or be allowed by your GM.

How much more effectively are either of these than the myrmidarch archetype that took a one level dip into gunslinger?
To me Spell Recall is too important a Magus ability to lose, yet Myrmidarch replaces Spell Recall with Ranged Spellstrike. My shootist build is just a pistol wielder, so he gets ranged spellstrike instead of spellstrike (as he never uses a melee weapon - it's intended for an old west style game) and retains Spell Recall. That is much better than a Myrmidarch with a Gunslinger dip, IMO.
