Meh. It doesn't matter much, at least for a while. If it is in Varisia, it's somewhere unspecified (like Smallville is somewhere in Kansas), and I'll just be making up the terrain anyway. Wherever it ends up would mostly just be for general flavor of the populace.

Hah, I actually was putting Flenn's family as living in the River Kingdoms (at least at one point, I was planning to have them move to wherever is convenient, or maybe Absalom). Small world?

Capitalism ho! I'd like to state my interest in this as well. :D I loved Recettear and liked playing the little mage guy, so I'll make a mage!

Character History:
A boy born to a merchant father and a mage mother. Sickly at birth, he mostly stayed at home with his mother. who taught him most of everything she knew, including the basics of magic and trading.

His city was invaded by raiders when he was young. Only surviving due to the protection of his mother, he had to watch many of the people he knew die, including someone he had a huge crush on. This whole series of events led to lifelong regret and a despairing recognition of his own mortality and that of others. He soon runs away from home, unable to bear the thought of watching his parents die.

He traveled from place to place, living the life of a vagabond as he tries to come to terms with death--and has now decided that immortality sounds like a pretty good bet.

Having stayed in the named town of Speck, his own research having identified the area as an old but forgotten nexus of powerful magic and additionally close to many promising ruins with the possibility of artifacts and several rare components, he decides to get the town thriving again because he won't find a better place to conduct his research.

Brushing up on his lesser-used business skills and a handy mind for mathematics, he bosses everyone around until everything is arranged according to his meticulously thought-out plan and liking. If all goes well, his own research will boom spectacularly with the profits and influx of business.

Business Plan:

1. Get the tavern up and running.
2. ???
3. PROFIT!

That was thoroughly amusing, Rashly.

For reference, everyone, I'm working up the official recruitment thread now, so expect it sometime tonight/tomorrow.

You know.. if its in Varisia... the Frontier land.. we could totally make a fort to protect the town! :D

Alright I will get my character built up (I kinda forgot about this for a bit :P)
When you get the recruitment thread up, post it here and we be good :)
I do have a question, when we actually get to that level, would it be alright if I took the leadership feat? Turn my guy from just a simple merchant to more of a grand merchant at that point. It would mostly be for background stuff but I figure this would be the type of game that I could actually suggest leadership and have even a slight chance of it getting passed :)

I have been considering running this type of game since I started to read the book. If you feel you have room, I'd like to try this out.

Recruitment thread is officially up. Go nuts.

Gobo - Leadership...yech. Yeah, I think this is one game you could actually get away with it. I'll make your work for it, though.
