Lances in Pathfinder

I see that they do double damage when used as part of a charge on a horse, but do they break when used in that manner?
Admittedly my only real experience with them is on TV and at ren fests lol

I believe (though my knowledge of lances is limited) there's a large difference between practice lances (made of wood, even soft, throw away wood that would shatter on armor) and battle lances (generally at the very least hard wood with a steel core, if not entirely steel).

Only jousting lances break in real life not combat ones.

Yeah, tourney lances are specifically designed to break on an opponent's shield, because otherwise you'd have a lot of dead knights after a joust. And contrary to the modern views of medieval times, even people in the dark ages knew better than to kill off all of their best knights just for a bit of entertainment.
