Please post any additions to or variations on talismanic components here.


Huh. After checking on d20pfsrd what are you referring to I discovered that Paizo finally added what I have been using for almost two years now.

I'll try to think of some post them later.

1. Souls. Depending on the power of the soul, this could be used to create intelligent items or infuse items with alignment related abilities(Anarchic etc.). Naturally the souls alignment will determine the property.

2. Dragonfire/acid/cold/electricity to infuse weapons with elemental properties.

3. Linnorm blood for curse effects: cursed items, ability drains etc.

Souls as components are already covered under soul trade section of Book Of The Damned III. Still, spirits of fey and outsiders with specific subtypes could be a viable talismanic components.

Powdered Bones for any necromantic or evil item.

Quicksilver/Mercury for speed or adaptation based items.

Vampire Fangs for undead bane weapons or bleed items.

Distilled essence of an Ooze for acid based items.

Sky Metal (Meteoric Iron) for protection or defensive items.

Volcanic Glass for flame or heat based items.

Diamond Dust for light based items.


Darkwood Tree Core for Wands, Staves, or Wooden Weapons.


Dust from long-dead threads, used in the creation of powerful undead.
