Liberty's Edge

I'm going to play David Bowie from Labyrinth so I can sing this incessantly.

"...Dance, magic, dance..."

Well since the first AP of next year is a more traditional adventure then maybe the next AP will have some fun with outer space, Numeria, or something a out there.

A space AP is something that i would buy, i am not sure if i can find enough people to play it though, but i think that A LOT of people that would not buy it, the way i see Paizo is taking a pretty big risk by making an AP with full use of the mythic rules (and i applaude them for that), which again i like but there are a lot of people who don't.

The way i see we might get a space module (now that have the new gigantic modules) from Paizo and we should ask the third party publishers to do a space AP. Don't get me wrong, i want Paizo to do a space AP, i just fear that they don't want to take the risk (which i understand).

Sane people don't publish fantasy RPG campaigns where Rasputin is using Nikola Tesla's tech in order to command tanks and machine guns against gnome druids and dwarf wizards. :)

If Paizo truly was afraid of all those conservatives, that would never happen.

Of course they'll have lasers and robots in the future!

So say we all.

Ok i think that the humor was lost somewhere in the internet.

I assumed that your post was aimed at me (not Paizo) when you said that fear is for the weak, i also assumed that you wrote it as humor. That's why i "defended" myself, again in good will and humor and fear is not only for the weak but for the sane also.

Did i misunderstood something?

It was aimed at Paizo, not you :) Squandering in the corner never does anything good in business, and Paizo got where they are now by doing things that are bold, if not downright insane. Compete directly with WotC? Many folks predicted that will end up with Paizo going bankrupt and getting bought out by Green Ronin or Necromancer Games. Publish Distant Worlds? Include LGBT characters? Lamashtu's Flower? Numeria? Launch minis/comics/MMO? It's all about pushing the borders and getting ahead of those who play it safe.

Paizo has over the years, had a number of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & even Transgendered NPC's in their publications, obviously not all in the same NPC.

I'm not acquainted with Lamashtu's Flower, but given that it's Lamashtu's Flower, I probably don't want to be...

Lamashtu's Flower is a very vary bad place in Osirion. Its' description, together with artwork, goes firmly into territory that D&D has avoided for many years, relegating it to "mature" games.

Ok in what product can i find out more about Lamashtu's Flower?

And yes i know about lesbian and bisexual NPCs but gay and transgendered? where?

There's a gay paladin in Rise of the Runelords and a MtF transgender in Reign of Winter.

You are right, i had forgotten about him.

I haven't read reing of winter, in which book is that in?

Lamashtu's flower, the basic, non-scary rundown plus reference to source text.

Definitely the artwork. It takes a moment of looking at it to register quite what's going on, and then... ugh. All the creepy shivers.

I haven't purchased an AP 'just for fun' in some time, but I would buy a DW AP even if I had no plans to run it. There has been calls for it since the book came out, cmon already!

And then there is this little problem that 33P don't feel like paizo material and their art is mostly black/white which I really don't like.

You should definitely check out the 3PP stuff that we produce at Legendary Games then, either on our website or our product page here at Paizo. Not only is every author a heavy Paizo contributor (about 40% of all AP adventures, major sections of every hardback, hundreds of thousands of words across all the softcover product lines), but all products are also full-color, rich layout, integrated internal and external hyperlinks, and many products available in both landscape and portrait.

But, besides the sales job, on the subject of the thread... let's just say keep your eyes on the skies. The stars may be aligning sooner than you think.

Only if Vercite Angeltech hardlight wing mods are involved. Preferably with an ethereal blue-shift kit. Holy cluster grenades optional, though you never know when emergencies will arise. Onboard digifey familiar is a must though to keep all of that running smoothly.

Do you count the Campaign Setting line? Because there's a lovely couple of lovely lady giants in Castles of the Inner Sea.

Actually forgot about that! (which speaks volumes for how little non-heteronormative characters are treated as unusual in the Pathfinderverse but simply as people, so they tend to blend in; actually managed to overlook the 30+ foot tall couple ;) )

I have to admit though, the character that's had me most curious would be the one revealed to be behind all of those succubus statuettes floating around in the AP line. And again, tying into that note about how these characters aren't treated as unusual or as spectacles:

Spoiler:
The fact that she's intersexed is not the most curious thing about her. :)

Gorbacz wrote:

Then you would really like the BATIBAT in a Pathfinder Bestiary. So go vote for her in the bestiary 5 wish topic, an enormous ugly, fat and evil dryad that destroys humans and other creatures that hurt her forest are so much more fun than pretty girl wood women that only flirt with their attackers.

Music for Mikaze:
If you haven't already, check out Carbon Based Lifeforms. There's tons of their stuff on youtube. Synth-based sci-fi sounding atmospheric tracks. Perhaps a little more Deus Ex than Mass Effect, but you might like 'em.

Also in that vein would be the EVE Online soundtrack.

Huh! I've actually got one of their songs buried in here, Neurotransmitter. If that's a good standard to judge their sound by, I think you just gave me a bunch on "on ship" ambient music. Thanks! :D

also is long overdue for picking up the Deus Ex soundtrack...

edit-Enlist? Oh God this is gonna take a while to complete. D:

No worries. The soundtrack discussion in the Iron Gods thread spurred my thought process, but their sound fits more this setting than that.

That's all good. In the distant future, once the singularity rolls around and we all get hooked up with cybernetics, personal AIs, neural connections and all that good stuff, it'll just increase the verisimilitude of the AP. :P

A sword-and-planet AP? Heck, yeah!

A space AP, as in spaceships and such. No thanks.

BTW, Mikaze, did you note that in the youtube panel discussion of Paizo's 2014 line they mentioned that the Dominion of the Black would be discussed in the Cults of Golarion book?

Cults of Golarion? Sounds very interesting! Any more information?

Cults of Golarion, sounds interesting, were did this get mentioned?

I would love a space AP, regardless if it was sword and planet(Castrovel and/or Akiton I would love the most) or your characters flying around in a space ship, exploring the other planets.

I can't recall if the name is Cults of Golarion (seems I remember it had something else as the name), but it gets discussed in the Know Direction Paizo GenCon panel video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQbNw4C0bSU

It's about midway through, as I recall.

Yeah, I found it mentioned with the Gen Con panel though I watched the end for Advanced Classes Guide book, I did finally watch the whole thing this morning.

Where did they mention Cults of Golarion? I heard mention of Occult Mysteries and Harrower's Handbook.

It's that Occult Mysteries one. I just remembered it (incorrectly) as Cults of Golarion.

Ok, cool. Although Cults of Golarion would be a cool book.

I think a sword and planet adventure path has a lot of potential. The trick would be designing something that is respectful of the original source material but that doesn't alienate the folks who want something closer to Spelljammer in feel.

Joshua Goudreau wrote:
I recommend tracking down copies of the old 2E Monstrous Arcana modules about the mind flayers, The Illithiad. The adventures were A Darkness Gathering, Masters of Eternal Night, and Dawn of the Overmind. The series is essentially a new Spelljammer with a mind flayer plot to black out the sun.

Their psionics will block out the sun, and so the PCs will fight in the shade.

Anyway, I'm still holding out for a Castrovel and/or Akiton centered AP (especially Akiton, since I'm coming off a recent re-read of the John Carter of Mars books). All that old pulp sci-fi and fantasy mixed together? Glorious.
