Dark Archive

I really liked the animal archive and feel like a lot of these items can be a great addition to the Bestiary series. Just the items that apply to bestiary creatures, NOT PLAYER CLASSES AND PC MAGICAL ITEMS. But item in the Animal Archive that apply to creatures, archetypes and feats.
For example...
I'd like to see a feat where the requirement was to be a companion or familiar to a divine caster you can channel energy once per day consuming one of the caster's uses.

I write this because the feats section to the last few Bestiaries have been the same and since the Animal Archive has open eyes to a way to look at familiars and companions more can be done on this point.

I actually think that stuff would be better applies to a book separate from the Bestiary. A monster codex or ultimate monster book. Bestiaries should be focused on statting up new creatures for GMs to use.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with some good solid templates in an appendix at the back of the bestiary.

Nope. I totally agree. Nor is there anything wrong with a book dedicated to a multitude of monster options - templates being one, but also archetypes, advancement rules, sample statblocks, "monster classes" etc etc etc.

Oh I'd agree and I commented in the thread you linked. "Advanced Monster Guide" sounds very nice.

I was speaking specifically towards a bestiary installment, which is unlikely to have anything more than a few new templates.

Dark Archive

I am hearing mixed this but I am assuming that people do not want too much, I guessing not to take away from the creatures in the book. But how about this, the section feats and templates is just as large/small as it was before but all the content is new content.

Then you'l have a problem with all the "why isn't Awesome Blow in the book? No I don't care if it's somewhere online, Internet is for kids not serious people" folks.

My preference: Keep the bestiaries a bestiary, and put the content the OP is looking for into a book called something like "Advanced Monster Guide."

Get the ogc templates from Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary updated to pfrpg while you're at it. You reference them often enough in AP volumes.

I am very bad at picking up sarcasm on the internet. Are you saying that people actually want recycled content for reference and there are enough of them to justify a decision for the masses

These additions can be non-player choices and only dm and monster creation choices but just something new that we don't already have on those pages.

Advanced Monsters Guide? Sounds interesting...

Sounds good when will these be a part of the subscription

Don't we have these "Something Revisited" books that contain simple templates to create variants of basic monsters... ;-)

Completely unrelated, but I'm looking at all the ferocious-faced beasts and monsters baring fangs and teeth in each community member's avatar within the thread.... and then I get Zmar's derp-face lizard.

Priceless.

And then there's mine that makes a :O face...

I like the sound of this Advanced Monster Guide.

That's why I love it so much!
