Hello everyone,
i am playing a lvl 9 summoning focused / buff cleric (sun/glory-heroism).
I have sacred summons to summon azatas(CG) as a standart action.
But do you guys have any suggestions on tactics how to summon with a full round action?
Our DM uses AOE etc. so I get damage on the first round and loose my SM5/4 .
Which advice would you have for regular full round summons?
thank you
Markus

Hi,
no i do not want to reduce the summoning time. The summoning time is 1 full round.
I was wondering on what to do, to not loose the spell by taking damage during that round.
Like sanctuary, inivisble, mirror image etc.
Do you do any of that as a summoning focused character before you go into battle?

Being invisible when combat starts works usually, if you keep away from others. AoE is usually elemental damage, hence prebuffing for energy resistance can help. Just not standing around where everyone else is is probably the most low tech option, which can be improved if you have access to mobility enhancers such as fly.

Tactical option: Wall of Stone
If your character knows what it is facing and what source of damage the AoEs are, then you can use the resist/protection from energy spells (which communal would be nice ).
If it is a specific spell that keeps getting used, you can try spell immunity (you can also get this one as communal).

My battle oracle have sometimes used his immediate action moves to move out of aoe when summoning, but that's not an option for you. Your best be is invisibility. If you can get a ring with it, you are golden. Going behind the corner, as rougerouge pointed out, also works whenever it's possible. Also not staying to close to the rest of the group can do the trick. Resistance from energy from your DMs favourite aoe spells will also help, and if it really is that big of a problem, you can spend feats to improve your concentration.
