You are tempting me, seriously, I might take you up on this.
I could set it on the western ring of Riom, my second fantasy campaign setting, which is mostly undefined. Custom Races, Gestalt Classes, 26 point buy, Weird Fantasy Tech (Gas Lamp Fantasy aka Girl Genius), yeahhhhh, I could do something like this.

If this is going to happen why not go all out? custom races (15 RP?), Gestalt classes, 26 point buy, 10th level. A party of the most broken PC's ever to walk [insert planet here].
sounds crazy ... wait I already have an alias for my character, and it is a 15 RP custom race.
are you stalking my characters?

I kindof like the idea of being one-offs, which could also explain the gestalting. Freaks trying to find a place for themselves in a cruel and hostile world that sees them as monsters, or something like that.
That would work really well with a homebrew game world, where we were created (or arrived from Elsewhere), and we're discovering the world both in and out of character. Might need to ban certain knowledge skills (local, nobility, history, maybe even religion) for chargen, with that story.

You'd still get the bonuses, but only after putting a rank into them, and you wouldn't be able to put a rank into them until either some arbitrary level (2? 3?), or achieving something in-game (like finding a teacher, or a library that lets you use it, or something).

Just for reference: Gestalt Character Rules. Geared for 3.5, but also includes suggestions for the GM to balance things.

Well I wrote, in this thread,
The beginnings of a story where a shuttle crash lands on a Fantasy world carrying prisoners from different planets destined for some place they think is going to be there final incarceration (but a mystery was involved that was not made clear before i stopped writing it.
This setting and set up would be perfect for this adventure.
Scroll down about six post to see how the story starts.
Maybe I'll take this on after all, maybe. See what you think of this set up

What part do you have trouble with? Is it the actual mechanics involved in combat? Setting them up so they're more than "Here's a monster, kill it"? Keeping track of everything? Figuring out what each creature should do?
Mostly i have trouble remembering the mechanics and sometimes I have trouble setting up.

That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking. You'd have to explain the ex-prisoners having magic in an in-world manner, but I love the setup.
Jiraiya22 wrote:I'd like to get in on this with some kind of ridiculously multi/prestige classed business. Something like a magus/oracle/barbarian/mystic theurge/rage prophet.it says in the gestalt rules things specifically mystic theurge should be banned in gestalt.
I think it's less problematic in Pathfinder than it was in 3.5, because the base casting classes get so much more that the theruge wouldn't progress. So yes, you could advance two sets of spellcasting and another class, but you wouldn't be improving your bloodline, or your domains, or your channelling, or your curse, or your hexes, etc.

Sounds interesting to me ^_^. What are your rules for chargen?

Honestly, I want to do this, but I can’t. I’m just not smart enough to take on a game this complex and in the end you would be disappointed in me as a GM.
But, having said that, I am intrigued by the Race Builder rules, and I may start another “A” Dungeon to see if I can learn how that works.
That's disappointing. I'd do it, but while I've got the mechanics down cold, I'm not creative enough to run something like this. You seem to have the creativity (although I'm getting a vibe of writer's block), and I'd be willing to help either potential GM with mechanics.
Or we can just keep hoping someone willing to GM stops by...

Greetings all, mayhaps I am the GM you are looking for. This would be another of my experiments.
I would be willing to take on the mantle, though with the support of you all. I think it would be a great learning experience. That said, I have DM/GMed for the past 7ish years, I have been on PbP for about a month or two now and love it.
I can work with almost all that has been said here so far, but starting at 10th level puts a lot of stress and time for the DM. It would be better to start at a lower level and build up to that.
Tell me what you think? Do you want me as your DM?

Maybe I can answer my own question with your answers?
Considering it was a prisoner shuttle what alignments would you want to play?
I like the idea of the Justice League sending Hulk story line. Where some of you could be good, they just saw your actions as over the top. So looking at CG, NG, N, CN, LN. I really don't care for evil, though I might accept it depending on the background story, trying to be better or working on redemption and keep falling into old ways. On the other hand some of you might be the wardens. Perhaps we could have a few PCs be the villians and have two campaigns at the same time, with one of my co-DMs running the smaller group, and I can oversee that one giving advice and suggestions to help that DM grow. (Though it might be best if I take the villians and the new GM take the heroes/antiheroes/refugees.)
Perhaps the shuttle was slowly stripping you of your powers and memories of your classes. Which might make sense of Gestalt leveling, you know one class and it comes naturally to you, though you are learning a new one at the same time.
The knowledge question would still be interesting, you might have the basic understanding of the specific knowledge but examples would need to be re-learned.
I am also thinking of doing a world, that has different levels of technology/magic. I am thinking of Samurai Jack.
