Ninja trick legality question

Looked for a ruling on this, haven't found anything.
Logic works but is convoluted enough to double check--
Rogue talent is a legal ninja trick.
Therefore ninjas qualify as having access to rogue talents.
A ninja could therefore qualify for the feat extra rogue talent.
He could spend the rogue talent on ninja trick, and get a ninja trick.

RAW they have access to rogue talents but they do not possess the rogue talent class feature, which is the prerequisite for the feat. I am allowing it for the ninja in my non-PFS game, but I can't take the feat with my PFS ninja, unfortunately.

Isn't this exactly what a ninja would do? To be more ninja-ing-ly:)

I guess it would be a good thing not to waste space printing a extra feat for extra ninja trick. Is that also what you are getting at?

Sadly Rogue is correct. Ninjas do not qualify for the feat as they are lacking the class feature "rogue talent".

It's been debated in the rules forums before, with the usual conclusion that they are pretty much exchangeable in a homegame, but RAW (and therefore PFS without a FAQ), you can't.

Gosh darn, I knew it was too good to true, and the minute you mention it I go, 'yeah, you're right'.

Stupid RAW.

Don't worry, there are still nifty things you can do with Ninja Tricks:

Combat Trick is a Ninja Trick that grants a bonus feat. Forgotten Trick allows a ninja to have any one Ninja trick for her level rounds.

Therefore you have access to any feat for 2 ki, assuming you haven't taken Combat Trick already. A ring of ki mastery from UE reduces the cost to 1 ki point. Quick Draw or Blind-fight are both situational, but they're both worth a few ki if you really need them! :)

Therefore, instead of being unhappy you can't take Extra Ninja Trick, just be happy you have more room for Extra Ki!
