Saw this yesterday. Loved it. Even if it isn't a fantasy/SF movie.
Came for the Jennifer Lawrence. Stayed for the DeNiro.
I tended to agree with the mainstream media that her first hunger games performance wasn't quite the mind blowing show of acting chops that people were making it out to be, but Silver Linings Playbook was well-written-crazy and well acted.
I'm this close to saying she upstaged DeNiro, but thats what makes DeNiro awesome. He knows he's funny but he'll let you run with it.
I wont say she 'stole' the scene but when he gave it to her she sure as hell ran with it.
As a dude I cant say the same for the atrocities that were Titanic and the Notebook.
On a side note I also found 'pitch perfect' to be hilarious, but I'm an old song and dance man from way back so maybe I liked it 20% for nostalgia, 20% for having a movie I can sing along with, and 20% each for Anna Kendrick's hotness and Rebel Wilson's comedic timing. I'd give the last 20% to the rest of the cast and the quality writing. Two thumbs up for this one as well.
I became a fan of Jennifer Lawrence a few years back with Winter's Bone. She's just remarkable. Seen her on Letterman a couple times now. She's a fantastic freak. A real nutjob in the best sense. Crazy and smart and very funny.
Always like Bradley Cooper. Guy's hilarious.
