In the XCOM thread people were saying it would be cool if there was a new SPACE HULK game which played like XCOM (as XCOM seems to have borrowed a lot of ideas from the original SPACE HULK board game).
REJOICE! There will be a new SPACE HULK game which will play a lot like XCOM. Only with Terminators and Genestealers in space. The game is also taking a lot of rules from the original board game. There may be some reference to the EA 1990s games (which were great), but this new title will definitely be turn-based and not real-time like they were.
That game will launch on PC with an iOS port to follow. The release date they are targetting is the end of this year. It's looking very cool. Also a great story on how they came to make it at the link.

More on SPACE HULK.
Slightly bad news is that the SP campaign will apparently be quite short, although also very tough. There will be MP and there's an indication you'll be able to play as the tyranids, though that's not yet confirmed.

...and tyranids have no creative debt to Alien's xenomorphs, of course not.
I didn't say they don't, but who cares. Expanding on other ideas is an excellent tool for progress. Let's not go into how every fantasy setting ever copied Tolkien and tolkien copied various mythologies, which in turn were copied from various superstitions as well as other mythologies.
Good things come from that. And Space Hulk is awesome.

Terran Marines and Zerg are still copied from Space Marines and Tyranids. Let's not get these confused.
Well considering GW went to Blizzard and asked them to do a game set in 40k, but pulled out of it after Blizzard did a lot of work, its a total copy, they ust reskinned them and called it starcraft.

The Tyranids are an evolution of the xenomorph from ALIENS. Only really the genestealer is a bit of a direct copy, otherwise their culture, origins and level of intelligence and sentience is pretty different. It's only since 40K and the Tyranids appeared that the ALIEN franchise has also gone off in this direction of showing different xenomorph types (and most of them only appear in the computer games anyway).
The Zerg aren't an evolution of either idea, though they do go off in a somewhat different direction after a while. Even though they're the most numerous and dangerous of the SC reaces, they're still very small fry compared to the sheer scale of the Tyranid race.

You can pre-order SPACE HULK now. The release date has been confirmed as 15 August, so not too long either.
The only problem that I can see is the price. For a 'very short game', not to mention one made in just a few months by a very small company on a very small budget (pretty much Kickstarter small, though this game was not crowd-funded) £22.99 is a bit eyebrow-raising as a price point. I was expecting, £14.99 or thereabouts. This might be more of a 'wait for the reviews' kind of thing.

Bah, that's the day my vacation ends!
Maybe that's a good thing if the SP campaign is really short. :)

Apparently it's reasonably okay, but some people have finished it already (it's been out for about 13 hours at this point) and there are numerous complaints it is overpriced for what it is. It isn't remotely as tactically involved as, say, XCOM.
One review from the Steam forum here. This person was viewing it from the angle of someone who likes the DAWN OF WAR and WH40K computer games but was not familiar with the original board game. Apparently people who love the board game and wanted a 100% simple conversion are really happy, but this does mean a game fairly limited in options.

This review is pretty down on the game.
Ouch. Kinda glad I didn't buy it yet. :)
I wonder how it holds up to the old Space Hulk games, or how the guy felt about those games. He's clearly pretty passionate about Space Hulk.

And there's another SPACE HULK game in the works. This is a FPS using the Unreal 4 Engine, so I'm assuming it'll be more of an action game and not a turn-based one. It's called SPACE HULK: DEATHWING.

This is good news, but frankly, what I REALLY want to see is a simple adaptation of the miniature warhammer game to an online computer version, using the same rules. I wouldn't even mind buying "models" individually like people do when they buy real miniatures - one of the main reasons I'm not into warhammer is that there's no reasonable way for me to play with it often enough to justify the price. An online Warhammer game, akin to Magic: The Gathering Online would be something I'd really want to see.

Two SPACE HULK expansions came out today, SWORD OF HALYCON and DEFILEMENT OF HONOUR. They add 5 new missions each and some new game elements.

I'm waiting for it to drop in the Christmas Steam sale. Also, the game apparently has already been expanded by some free DLC allowing you to play as the Space Wolves and adding 3 new missions. If they combine that with the two expansions and re-release the whole thing at a more friendly price (say under £10), I'd certainly take a look at it.
