Roof Running on a Pirate Ship?

Rules Questions

Would the Roof Running Rogue Archetypes ability to work on a Pirate ship?

Roof Running (Ex)
At 1st level, a roof runner becomes entirely adept at moving across the tops of buildings, spires, and similar locations. Provided she is wearing light armor, the roof runner can move at full speed while traveling across the tops of buildings or similar structures, and takes no penalties on any Dexterity-based Skill checks or Reflex saves that might be incurred from moving about on a roof.

This ability replaces trapfinding.

Silver Crusade

If the pirate ship has a roof, I see no reason why not. A deck is not a roof. Of course, other reasons to take such checks persist, such as excessive rocking, slippery surface, etc.

I am mainly thinking of weather or not it would work on the Rigging and the mast.

Silver Crusade

Right, rigging and masts does not equal roof.

It just seems to me that the "Similar locations" would imply any precarious locations like a ships Mast and Riggings.

Silver Crusade

A roof is a wide, generally smooth, slanted surface. Masts sometimes are, but they require acrobatics to maneuver upon due to their narrow nature. Rigging requires a climb check.

Acrobatics:
Cross Narrow Surfaces/Uneven Ground

First, you can use Acrobatics to move on narrow surfaces and uneven ground without falling. A successful check allows you to move at half speed across such surfaces—only one check is needed per round. Use the following table to determine the base DC, which is then modified by the Acrobatics skill modifiers noted below. While you are using Acrobatics in this way, you are considered flat-footed and lose your Dexterity bonus to your AC (if any). If you take damage while using Acrobatics, you must immediately make another Acrobatics check at the same DC to avoid falling or being knocked prone.

Greater than 3 feet wide: 0
1–3 feet wide: 5
7–11 inches wide: 10
2–6 inches wide: 15
Less than 2 inches wide: 20

Climb:
DC 10: A surface with ledges to hold on to and stand on, such as a very rough wall or a ship’s rigging.

Naval Terminology:
Rigging: The standing rigging is the mast and support lines, running rigging is the lines with which you adjust the sails.

You must climb to move on the rigging. There are feats and classes that address this specifically, such as a Pirate, and the feat Sea Legs. "Similar locations" does not equal "precarious situations".
