I've been asked to edit this to hide the spoiler. Sorry, I wasn't thinking.

Spoiler:
Ok, so there is a +1 mithral pepperbox rifle hidden in the Enigma Vaults.
I know that advanced firearms are not allowed in Society play, but there it is.
I know it is broken, but someone with the Gunsmithing feat can repair a firearm with an hours work.
I know it isn't on the Chronicle sheet, so they can't keep it even if they do fix it.

The question is- IF a Gunslinger fixes the weapon while playing the level, can they use it for the duration of The Enigma Vaults?

Yes.

The Exchange 5/5

ouch! you might want to spoiler this... I didn't recognize the Thornkeep as a scenario

Ben,

The Pathfinder general rules kick in here. Gunslingers can buy +1 guns as Always Available items.

From the Additional Resources page: "firearms are never considered Always Available". Not even to Gunslingers.

Why isn't this on the Chronicle?

Because

Spoiler:
Advanced firearms are not allowed in PFS

Remember Thornkeep was NOT written as a PFS scenario. It was a standalone module PFS decided to sanction.

just an fyi, it isn't broken, it is destroyed.

That explains why it's not on the chronicle.

Not only that, it specifically says that you can only fix it at the GM's discretion, so that would probably be a 'No' in PFS.

Spoiler:
Yeah, I teased the musket master player that I was running through it. He really really wanted it. :D

And finally, it is not found with any ammunition, and its ammunition is never legal for purchase.

All good reasons. thanks, guys, for the corrections.

Bummer. :(

I like the idea of finding one, (I always thought it would be nice to have a pepper box rifle) but I'm just happy if someone would put out a statement about the error on the double barrel musket as it is.

My curiosity is why the pepper box pistol is available, but a pepper box rifle is an advanced weapon.

Because rifling is an advanced process...

Ah.. shame I kept thinking musket even though I was seeing Rifle..weird.

I just wish I could get something other than a double barreled musket that has a 10' as an upgrade to my musket

Yeah I was hoping the 10' range was an error, but when it was added to UE with the same range I was disappointed. Found it odd that a Double Barrel Musket loses range when a Double Barrel Pistol does not.

It's kind of annoying.. I can't anyone to make a statement ANYWHERE on the boards about the 10' range.. or why 2 hand firearms are the only item that can't be combined with Explosive Shot.

I post and ask..and hear crickets.

Ahhh. Totally forgot that it requires brass cartridges. That pretty much squashes using it even if it could be fixed. Carry on.

Can't gunslingers make ammunition?

Metal cartridges are expressly not allowed.

A pity, there pretty much zero stuff out there in PFS adventures for Gunslingers.

Heck, there's not even much stuff in the newer books, and the older books have most feats, items, and classes specifically aiding bows and crossbows, rather than general "ranged attacks", so they're of little use to a gunslinger.

Well with Gunsmithing you get pay only 10% on powder/bullets and with Craft (Alchemy) 1 you get a 50% discount on paper cartridges. (I assume you could use Alchemy to craft them if you have time)

Sadly we aren't seeing anything in the way of 'fun loot' or even some adaption of the old feats to make it easier for us. Not that I blame the folks who look at the rules.. there are some REALLY hinky builds out there.

I play a musket master.. so I had to find other ways to be productive. (Not 4 double pistol shots a round)
