Anyone mentioned temples for the different gods and goddesses yet?

Not that I care much about the gods and their ilk and they probably care less about us, but praying to them when times are difficult might help... or not. /shrugs

wait wait wait.... I not asking for a flying castle, or a city. Just a simple tiny little grove on a piece of flying rock. Grove just big enough to have a tree hut.

Some druid circles and stone hedges would be nice for druid councils. Would be great to have a druid council to belong too, only druids allowed.

Definitely need different size religious temples. Various government buildings. A whole horde of crafting buildings for the various trade arts.

Things like lighter-that-air islands, I think they always follow a simple rule in Fantasy:

One is a Wonder, Unique is a goal; Lots and lots become not so special, and spawn things like "Honest Conan's Used Weapons of Godly Power, and Camel Wash".

I'm not adverse to just about anything... provided it isn't available in case lots for a discount.

BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond!
BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDEMIR: And therefore--?

“Lootable” banks and warehouses/storehouses. They would function like a normal MMO bank with a significant amount of storage depending on the structure. Say 1000 slots on the warehouses and storehouses but you could only store crafting mats or food etc in them. However, whenever another faction conquered your settlement, if the banks and storehouses were intact they could raid the coffers and help themselves to whatever goodies were stored there.

To counter the fact that you could suddenly find yourself without 2 copper to rub together (unless you threaded them), all Inns would have a personal stash/storage that only you the player had access to. It would not hold anywhere near as much money or items as a bank, but it would be a safe spot to store things. Maybe you could upgrade the number of space you had available by paying money to the inn, or by sticking a bag of holding in there.

Ideally this would encourage inter-kingdom warfare as well as prevent players from being completely hosed if the barbarians ransacked their kingdom.

I don't think I'd put my stuff in the bank if the mattress was safer.

Has any sort of insurance system been mentioned for either stored goods or for goods in transit? I can't recall seeing anything....?

Insurance in a fantasy setting. This would be a first...

Not that I've seen. Although I think this might be a cool idea of a CC or settlement to be insurance agents :)

Goblin Squad Member

To rip you off far more than the bandits robbing you, that if we go by real life thieving insurance companies.

Goblin Squad Member

No no the Insurance CC's will be dwarfed by the Banking CC's.

Or maybe they will just be Dwarfs.

But your mattress could only hold 500 gold or whatever, while the bank could hold 10 times that or more. It would give players a much greater stake in a settlement raid if their potential life savings could go up in smoke. Don't want your hard earned money to end up in the hands of raiders? Fight for it!

Plus, if someone did take over your settlement, were would the money go otherwise? Do the River Kingdoms have magic tubes that can send coin to other bank branches? Better to have the potential to get it back than for it to be lost forever.

Banking would be interesting if you collected interest on your deposits like in Might and Magic. Of course, you then run the risk of the bank being destroyed and looted. But I would leave the banking to coins only and not item storage.

If you need to store items get a bigger home or rent storage space. If you don't make your monthly payment then you lose access and have to pay rent due to get it open. After several months past due the items get put up for auction. Unless, the storage gets raided.

Well you could have player run "pawn shops". You need money for a crafting project or market speculation so you pawn your adventuring gear, weapons armor etc temporarily and get them "out of hock" later with interest.

The same player could also run a small bank where players deposit money at interest which is lent out in the pawn shop at even higher interest.
