My search fu is weak. I've been trying to come up with a way to use the district maps that enables me to remove structures and put new ones in. I'd like to know what are some of the things other people have done with their district maps. (I've seen the HTML solution but that isn't optimal for my needs.)
Any help would be appreciated.

I've bought the KM Map Folio.
I've then photocopied & reduced in size the maps, laminated them & draw
on them in permanent marker what the Players are doing...
That way - I can add, or delete, use different colours & symbols etc.
Unfortunately - I'm not a high tech guy...love to be, but just aren't.
The above solution works for me, plus it gives people something to handle
when they're kingdom building, or just planning where to go next...

Doh - 'district maps'...
For the about town stuff - I copied all of the different buildings into
a word file & then printed it onto sticker sheets.
That way my guys can just peel off whichever building they want & stick
it wherever they like then & there...
In your case - it's easy enough to stick a new building over an old...

Whoops - I do it differently and don't stick with the square district map structure, but draw out a map out as we go. When we started I just drew out a town shape (in this case that incorporated The Stag Lord Fort and Tusk Water) that had the same number of building slots on. Then once the PCs decide what they want to build, we have discussion on where the building should go - then I go away and draw up the map between sessions.
(But I enjoy that) This is the current map for our main town, Horcroft. You can still see the empty building plots ready for development.

I'm not a very tech-savy guy. I made copies of the players guide pdf and had them lamenated. I then cut out the buildings and glue them on to the district sheet with rubber cement. When the players upgrade a building, I just peel the cement off and put the new one on.
It seems to work really well and looks cool when I hang the city maps up next to the Stolen Lands poster maps!
If you need more of the houses, you can use an older version of Acrobat (I believe it's 8) to take out the image of the house from the buildings page of the players guide and replicate. I made one whole 8.5 x 11 page of houses.
