Having not seen the Hobbit yet, I've only the book to rely for the Middle Earth discussions.
However, my kids love Kung Fu Panda. Has anyone thought about the characters? How high a level would they be? Do the animals align with their Pathfinder styles?
I think they come close enough that no one is going to complain. You could even make the racial choices easy on yourself and use the 3.0 oriental handbooks Hengekui (something like that) there were basically human animal hybrids, kinda like Kitsune but they could be almost any animal. Just ignore the +1 level adjustment and let them play.
Or use the ARG to Build them...
Tigress would basically be a Catfolk. Snake some form of Naga.
Mantis... Tiny sized character race...
Awakened Mantis could work as well.
Build the characters as humans, then just fluff them to whatever race you want. That way they will be balanced and still have the full Kung Fu Panda feel.
