Caster level increases?

Hey, is there a compulsion of feats class abilities items etc, that increase caster level for all spells for a sorcerer or wizard?


I'm guessing compulsion=compendium? (Have to love autocorrect!)

Not that I'm aware of - there actually aren't too many ways to do that.

Offhand:
* Orange Prism ioun stone (+1 CL)
* Create a high-magic demiplane (with a casting of Create Greater Demiplane) (+2 CL)
* Have a Magician (Bard archetype) grant a CL bonus (up to +5)

I think there are some wild magic things around, too, but the above are deterministic CL bonuses.

So that's up to +8 CL, though you have to be in a special demiplane with a 20th level Barb (Magician) assisting to do it... still, nice for crafting artifacts, weaving some epic spell effect, or Gating a 56 HD outsider!

(Note: Ignoring "Mythic" stuff for the moment...)


Not really all that great an option, but the 1st level ability for the arcane subdomain boosts caster level or dc by 1 for all arcane spells within 15 feet. Takes a standard action to use, though, which is kinda weak in most circumstances.


Just to add a couple:

Varisian Tattoo feat gives +1 CL for a single school of magic.

Spell Specialization feat gives +2 CL for a single spell from a school you've got spell focus in.

The Magical Knack Trait gives a bonus of up to +2, but only up to your character level (it will offset 1-2 level dips, but do nothing for a single classes character).

The Magician's Dweomercraft performance only gives a bonus to caster level checks, not to your actual caster level.


I know one obscure thing that gives a +1, +2, or +3 insight bonus to CL. It is great for familiar wands (for the familiar to use a wand to cast it on you) or for cohorts to cast it on you (through the Squire/Leadership feat or one of a myriad of other ways to get a cohort).

The spell is Sharesister. The person who casts the spell receives temporary negative levels - great for familiars who don't care and can hide in your backpack. When they receive negative levels, you receive an insight bonus to your CL. This spell scales as you level up/the higher CL you put on the wand.


One of the alternate Gnome traits from the Advanced Players Guide, Pyromaniac, gives you +1 CL for all spells with the fire descriptor. Pretty neat ;)
