How would one create Dragnipur

Conversions

Im thinking my BBEG would wield a sword like Anomander rakes and once you get in the PCs would have to find a way to escape the plane the sword sends you to. I havent seen any conversions for this relic though.

bump

I don't understand the question.

Unless you talking about Auramance, he is like a British rapper and a few years back he did a song about Santa Claus having an overly large... uh.. well... you figure it out.

I don't think thats what you are asking though.

NEWB question - what is BBEG ?

I think you would just have to make it an artifact and just GM Fiat. When cut by said sword you r automatically Teleported into a plane inside the sword.

Then you can give it whatever other abilities you want. Make it like, once you escape from the sword you cannot be sucked back in. Something like that

Scarab Sages

A sword like Dragnipur is more a plot device than anything else.

Just give it a +6 enchancement bonus with speical ability of automatically trapping the soul of anything it damages.

BBEG = Big bad evil guy.

and Dragnipur is a sword from the Malazan series. Its basically an evil black greatsword that instantly slays foes and puts them in a plane of sorts that has each soul dragging a wagon away from an unknown chaos. If you are slain by the sword you go to the plane and drag the wagon.

For gameplay purposes ide remove the Insta-Kill effect and just have it put people in a demi plane created by the sword possibly? i havent thought that far ahead yet.

Depending upon the power level of you BBEG (Bid Bad Evil Guy/Gal for mrgdawg) it would probably be a weapon that casts plane shift that upon anyone struck with it, probably with some insane saving throw DC. Victims would be send to a pocket plane bound to the blade itself.

Grand Lodge

Give it a soul bind spell effect for every creature it is used to kill. Since it's Dragnipur, make it and epic soul bind that even trumps gods form resurrecting the person. Make it become heavier and move up in a damage die for every 100 or so souls. So only super strong people can weild it. And then cry you gave it to your players (you might ot need to since they'll probably have to break it to free the souls).

Grand Lodge

I also double-checked, it doesn't have an insta kill. Bind at least a permanent darkness spell to it. Deeper of you rule the tiste andii types have the see in deeper darkness effect.

Give it the power of GM Fiat.

Whenever one of your players really pisses you off have "Salamander Drake" show up and smack their guy with it.

Guy gets killed and transported to an inescapable pocket dimension where he toils in agony for all eternity.

All jokes aside, that's probably the only way to make the sword that can cut through GODS like they're made of cream cheese work in Pathfinder.

Dot.

If I were making a Dragnipur inspired item (which I've noted down as something I may do for a game one of these days)...

Okay I was about to write a ton of stuff and then I realised that I pretty much had similar thoughts as Kiinyan.

1) No instant kill
2) Sword brings creature down to HP=-con then character goes to demiplane
3) Some sort of quest possible to get out
4) Have the sword get heavier and do more damage with the strength of the soul captured (probably represented best by HD.)
5) 'Normal' magical weapon properties left to DM discretion.

Only read this if you've read Toll the Hounds:

Spoiler:
When Anomander kills Hood, the sword suddenly becomes much heavier, implying that the weight of the sword is not only proportional to the number of souls within, but also their power.

I agree that instead of just amount of souls, HD would be the better call.

In response to your spoiler...

More Toll the Hounds Spoilers:
In addition to Hood, a very powerful entity, entering Dragnipur, the ENTIRETY of the Warren of Death enters at the same time. There are countless powerful creatures, all that have ever died. Plenty more that just Hood.

This is true. I hadn't considered that.

I do agree with the HD part because if you remember when hood was slain by it the sword got exponentially heavier.
