Gods & Magic question

Hi there. I'm researching the good gods as I prepare to roll up a cleric for Society play and have a question about the entries in the book Gods & Magic.

Are the powers granted to clerics of deities usually found in the last paragraphs of the individual god entries legal for play? For example, the last paragraph in the Desna entry reads: "Desna’s clerics and druids may prepare the dream spell as a 5th-level spell, rangers as a 4th-level spell."

This is part and parcel of my own imperfect understanding of the Additional Resources document, I suppose, and the balance between it being a document that explicitly allows or explicitly prohibits.

And not that this has anything to do with my question, but as I was looking at my copy of that document (the one dated Wednesday, November 28th, 2012), I noticed that in the introductory paragraphs it lists the core assumption as including the CRB and Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Seekers of Secrets. That's actually changed to the Pathfinder Society Field Guide now, hasn't it?

Cheers,

Christopher

The last bit under Gods & Magic in the Additional Resources lists what spells are legal.

Thanks, yes!

That's not precisely what I'm talking about though. I mean the text within the entries for each deity that allows various spellcasting classes to cast particular spells that aren't usually on their spell lists or maybe at different levels than usual.

For instance, the entry for Torag ends this way: "Paladins may prepare mending as a 1st-level spell. Clerics may prepare fabricate and major creation as 5th-level spells, paladins as 3rd-level spells."

Whereas the Core Rulebook tells me that mending isn't on the paladin list at all, and fabricate and major creation are on neither the cleric nor the paladin lists.

I've only reviewed the good deities, but all their entries at least contain a spell or three listed in a like manner.

I asked a similar question about a year ago, and was told no. Just searched, here it is: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2n5os?Stuff-from-Gods-and-Magic

Wow, that thread got off topic quick.

Thanks, Fromper. I tried the search function before I asked but must have entered an inadequate string of terms.

In answer to your other question Christopher, yes the additional resources page has changed - it updates about once a month so it is important to check the page with some frequency

Maybe he means the "download a PDF of this document" link from additional resources?

And since it was only a few mouse clicks, I did the work for you; he DOES mean that document:

Additional Resources PDF wrote:
(If you’re bringing a printout of the pages, it must be from the actual Paizo PDF and not text copied and pasted into a blank word processing document). Since the core assumption for Pathfinder Society Organized Play is the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Seekers of Secrets, and the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary, we cannot assume that every Game Master will have the products listed below.

Emphasis mine.

See this download dated 2012-11-28 to see what he's talking about.

EDIT: Copy/pasting this post to the "additional resources updates" sticky in the hope that it will be seen there by the powers that be.
