We know that the Society has control of the front (and possibly back) door into the Hao Jin Tapestry, with it's various landmarks, climates and peoples. At least one scenario deals with people who have been in the Tapestry for some time.
This brings up a question... could someone make a character who's 'Homeland' is actually inside the tapestry?

The problem with that is the same one that comes up from time to time in the scenarios with the Tapestry: How'd you get out?

I believe that restriction only applies to using the tapestry to enter/exit. I think using the Aspis backdoor, via Storming the Diamond Gate does not carry that restriction.

Sounds like it could be fun. The biggest thing to consider is that PFS members are normally required to present themselves at the Grand Lodge and then undergo training for 3 years before becoming Pathfinders. While PFS dosn't strictly keep track of time one season is nominally one year.
While I'd rather see most PCs conform to the 3years of training in their background it is not required to be part of your background and being from the tapestry could be a good exception.

I already did! This is her. It has been a lot of fun to play around with the fish-out-of-water experience. When other players learn of her background it has sparked some good conversations.
I have not experienced all of the Tapestry scenarios yet, but I assumed in one of them there was a way out for the people inside. In a scenario I ran it basically implied that a way would be found. We can travel to other dimensions via magic in PFS, I don't see a reason why others can't do the same.
Lastly, I think creating a new character based off of the experience of a session you played or GMed is great. I'm actually surprised we don't see more of those kind of characters around.

They're moving away from that requirement and more towards a "come as you are"
I assume the incompetent ones will be taken care of by darwininan forces, which are both cheaper than hiring a schmuck for 3 years AND a great source of faction missions...

Ohh neat, I missed that post. I retract my only objection.
