I could just look it up on my own, but who are Socialist Alliance?

Also, I don't know enough about the FARC to say anything about them one way or the other, but hawt damn! this chick is sexy!!

Speculation on my part here, but: anyone think there might be a connection between the Ankara bombing and the assassination of three PKK members in Paris?

Democratic Marxists..... All the SA people I have met remind me of Rimmer from Red Dwarf when he had his anger sucked out by the Polymorph.

I have a feeling that they might be current comrades...

...maybe not though. The English-speaking Trots unfortunately re-use the same names over and over again in the various English-speaking countries. It gets very confusing, all the "Socialist Alternatives" and "Socialist Alliances" and "Socialist Appeals" yada yada yada.

The hell if I know.

The main suspect (arrested the 22th of january, so it doesn't show on your piece) is a turkish/kurd guy who volunteered two years ago to help out in various organizations around the PKK.

Some say he wasn't kurd, and close to extreme-right turkish organizations ; the turks say he emigrated twenty years ago and thta they have no idea where he was before foing to France two years ago. Smells of good old spycraft and disinformation to high heaven.

Yeah, I haven't seen that, but, !!!

Oh, wait a minute, which suspect--in Anakara or Paris?

In Paris. Another one was arrested in Ankara ?

Ours was first presented by the press as an PKK member, before it was denied by the PKK itself.

The information probably came from police sources, as the suspect claimed his appartenance to the PKK during his interrogation.

Seems he was helping out in satellite organizations (kurdish cultural center, charity, that sort of things). Ended up being the assignated chauffeur for Sakine Censiz, one of the victims during her Paris stay (she lived in Germany).

Seems he is not kurd, and that his family is part of the Grey Wolves, a nationalist turkish movement.

Uh, I don't know. You never know, though, what kind of breaking news you might miss.

Another week, another general strike in Greece.

Really, I don't see why they just don't get it over and overthrow capitalism...

Anti-austerity protests in Bulgaria, too.

Long article on the Italian Communist Party
