What stats should I use for a manacle on a chain? Light flail?
Improvised weapon, d3 damage, 20/x2, 1HB, 8.0 lbs.

Gwendalyn |

Grazie. I think I'll look for a club. ;) Also, I believe that Gwendalyn is ready for review.

There is a darkness in that one.

I'm still sick at home, which means that I'm still able to post a lot on a weekday. Nice coincidence for our ding, but don't get too used to it. ;) I'm saving up for a tablet, but it could take awhile to afford one worth getting.

A few comments about that:
None of you are neophytes. EverQuest might be new to you, but roleplaying is not, and though it has a slightly different "skin"/UI it really is just v3.0 D&D for its core mechanics. Those that come to the realization that they have prompted the ire of a monster far beyond them and continue to swing (as opposed to running, hiding, using diplomacy, surrender, bluff, intimidate....) probably deserve to not have their genetic material move on to any progeny.
I find it hard to suspend my disbelief that the world would fashion playpens for characters to grow up in. Give it enough time and the larger predators would cruise in for some easy game.
It just wouldn't be EverQuest. The game is rife with insanely powerful creatures wending their way around noobie zones. As an example the Field of Bone is a horrific place to grow up in, with high level "KOS" (you will be killed on sight) monsters wandering around.
You have already had an encounter with a dragon, several killer sharks, heard testimonies from my players about how nuts I am, heard me tell you how horrible I am, and are currently penning posts in a game under the heading of "The Torture Chamber." It has been a constant barrage of potential drowning, exposure, shark bites, corral reefs, goblins (seriously, what sort of sociopath would attack their half-frozen/naked/nearly weaponless players at that point?), et cetera, et cetera.YMMV, this is a feeling out process and if my way of running things is not for you then I fully understand the exit stage left. I have a very specific way of playing and some are in ecstasy within its boundaries (AKA masochists), while the normals shun it like a ebola-laced sneeze : )
No, i'm no neophyte, but have different gaming experiences; no group i've been ever considered surrendering for example (even thought i'ld have, it doesn't make sense if i'm the only one surrendering).
Surely you know a MMO has a very different pace from a table top game. A incredibly hard monster wandering in that plain can be walked around if you don't want to fight it,but the game is almost all combat centered; but in a table game if the DM decides he wants his party to fight it the players will clash with it no matter what they do.I could go on saying i don't like when every encounter is a walk in the park, but neither to play a game which uses table top pace and rules as a MMO.
I liked it so far, but i have no time right now to think about a lot of (unnecessary for me) details like physical description or personality or whatever ;the height, weight and alignment boxes on the sheet are enough for the amount of details i usually ask my players.
I may have misunderstood the kind of game you had in mind so maybe it is my fault, but these are the reasons why i left the MMO.
Anyway i'll be away from the boards almost completely until after Xmas,so i'll have to drop out of this game, no offence meant.
Happy gaming.

Sorry to hear you're still sick, but it's our gain! *evil schemey fingers*
We're about to find a different gear for the game after I utilize my player-apult once more.
Aside: Worry not about the number of people in the group. If anything a smaller group runs better (I filled heavy expecting the psychotic pace I expect to thin the herd) and forces me to reward you with far more bounty than if I had more hungry mouths demanding sustenance.

Character sheets:
Syn: Done except the picture seems wrong somehow.
Sajeek: Done, but has no weapon listed. Don't you want a club? We could probably do a spear now too.
Revery: Done except he has no money or spellbook. Or decent clothes.
Gwendalyn: Hit dice should be 2d8+2, Mana is not updated. Add bad clothes...
For weapons, I put them under the weapons section, then under equipment I just write "Weapons and armor above" and then put the weight in the weight column. Y'all can do that if you like.

Xenh |

Syn: Done except the picture seems wrong somehow.
Me thinks thou hast mistaken the lame D&D/Pathfinder bard with the amazingly cool EverQuest bard. The EverQuest bard is a full plate wearing melee combatant trained in 1HS martial weapons and shields. My bard is a wood elf, so he is fully equipped with infravision, hence the red glowing eyes dripping with sex appeal.
The picture is perfect. I accept your apology.
p.s. The fact he's a badass is implied : )

I can get Khae to write you a Dr.'s note if you wish. It's obvious you have come down with a contagious case of tashani.

Ooops, I just recognized my typo when I put that into the IC post. That should have been 1D6 damage.

I would think that we could find/make clubs from local tree limbs, which would not be improvised weapons in terms of attack bonus.

Xenh |

Yup, clubs/slings/quarterstaffs are all relatively east to make. Just post the intent and it is yours, though the slings will require a bit of digging (poor frozen digits) for stones and sacrificing some clothing for the cause.

Xenh |

I would like someone or a couple of you to please step up and take the role of chronicler and cheat sheet penner.
The chronicler would do a brief, and most importantly easy to follow, synopsis of the group's adventures through Norrath.
The cheat sheet would consist of important places and character one meets along the way.
Who is interested?
Keep in mind that I'm in a rewarding state of mind, so expect both roles to come with fringe benefits down the line.
I will put both in the "Campaign Info" for everyone's reference.

Ditto on the long day, and probably another hour to go before starting to write the post (or eat dinner, for that matter). Got some ideas percolating, though.

I could do the cheat sheet. There's not much to it yet. I'll put it in a google docs spreadsheet.

Gwendalyn |

I was thinking of taking up chronicler. I like to refer to past events in my other PbP games, so it would be making things easier for myself.
Also, Gwen will drop Khae on his feet if he squirms to be let down. In fact, if he recoiled and did the limp, heavy thing to keep from being picked up in the first place, then I'd have to revise my post, since she's more empathetic than that; I was just assuming that he wouldn't want to be left behind. ;)

I appreciate you both stepping up, it takes some of the pressure off of me, which leaves me free to come up with weird and wild stuff.
You rocks my proverbial socks.
I'll put it in a google docs spreadsheet.
Heck if both could be on a Google Docs spreadsheet, or even the same spreadsheet, that would take even more effort off of my shoulders, since I would not have to touch it. If possible, that would be amazing. Save often, save in a back-up place, I'd hate to lose everything due to a Google hiccup.

Xenh |

Mike, is everyone level 2 this morning? It helps me know how much of a beating I can dole out :)
<looks up the stats for Cazic-Thule as the next encounter>
Quick check: Is everyone happy with their characters/classes? I ask because some of you made decisions within the scope of other people's decisions and some of those died a horrific death (ahh, the sweet sounds of crepitus and the lamentations of players). This is the time, and I mean right this second since I'm about to put some things into motion, to make changes if those changes are coming.
One thing to consider, there is some redundancy in Sajeek and Gwendalyn, since Gwen is a shaman and Sajeek is a monk/shaman hybrid. The spells will be used slightly differently, but I just don't want there to be surprises later on when some of the beastlord's casting is overshadowed by the barby.
If Gwen does become something else, and Khae is a worthy replacement (eww dwarves, get it off get it off and kill it before it gets to the children), he could be just undertaking a vow of silence or something.
Things to muse upon this wonderful Saturn Day morn :)

Gwendalyn |

Twenty years ago, I'd wait and see what everyone else was playing, then make a character to round out the party, filling perceived holes. Now I just make what I want to play, since I've seen how redundancy can mean effectiveness, and a jack-of-all-trades party can be master of none, just like a jack-of-all-trades character.
There are still exceptions of course, like how I dropped Tudan because it isn't fun to play a warrior without a healer; but shaman was #2 on my list of what I wanted to play, and I've been enjoying it even more than I expected. I don't see Khae as a reason to change her -- if anything, the two have been barely enough. ;)

Xenh |

I've been enjoying it even more than I expected.
That's great to hear since you were the main focus of the question, since you've never had the misfortune of playing with me before. Now that you've experienced a sampling of what's in store I wanted to permit adjustments.
I know Sajeek will not be changed, even at gunpoint, knowing Russ as I do, so we're down to Revery possibly changing.
(eyes Mike)

Revery |

Revery will change as soon as he finds some better clothes.
Aside from that, no, he's great as is...

Hi all,
I've got the start of a glossary going here.
Let me know if you have any problems reaching it. It should be editable by all, hopefully.
Feel free to add and modify stuff on there. It's for all of us, though I will try to keep it somewhat up to date.

Perfect, thanks so much!
If we can get the write-ups there too that would be great.
You know Xenh will be out to get you for the return of the GWiz, right? lol :P
Hmm, someone must have edited that part out :)

Write-ups of what? Character descriptions?

Same one please, at the bottom of the cast of characters would rock.

I've started on the chronicle, but I'm on a deadline for a job app, so I wouldn't look for it before Friday.

As far as pulling my weight, (...so lazy....), I am willing to provide the fluff, (Not fluffer, Down boys!), for the info that is provided on the GoogleDocs sheet. Make it interesting to read, that kinda thing.
Cause, that's really all I can think of to do for the group. Other then be sexy and awesome (but that's just my cross to carry. It's rough, I know).

2 should be good enough, no worries.
