I really need to work more on my job application. If someone else could take over the synopsis, or if we could treat it as a group effort, that would be great.

This does not need to be epic. Heck point form with the bare bones of what has happened (in enough detail that it will help to spark people's recollection later on) is enough.

It is a tool that I really would appreciate and will use myself.

Gwendalyn wrote:
Also, sorry about the in-game insult. It was inappropriate. I don't normally act like that, and it won't happen again.

Tis all good, and I appreciate the self monitoring. I think the issue was more that you found an insulting phrase that the filters didn't pick up. It would soften the blow if you went far filthier like: s@%& piss c#$&+&#@*+ m@+&!~%&$@&& and t+&~.

Zaruksis looks good, just the CC skills ought to contain decimals, I.e. 1.0. This is the convention we agreed to with the other group. It makes no difference to the numbers, though.

Piter is perfect, of course.

I validated your attribute scores and skill points, just because someone has to watch the watchman. ;) They're correct, of course. Also: nice pic!

Take that +2 attribute award you two. I see that your sheets are updated, have been scrutinized and they are linked in your race slot.

Loki, sans equipment, is finished, scrutinized and linked, so I am awarding him the bonus as well.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

I wrote a very high level outline of our adventures at the end of the glossary. Very short. Feel free to expand/explore/explode.

Backups
I just want to remind everyone to make a backup of you character sheet once it's done. Just go to the myth-weavers page with all your sheets, select download, and one at a time save your sheets (in xml format) on your hard drive. I save mine in Google drive so it's available from anywhere :-).

Oh good start. Yes, please everyone it would rock if there was multiple authors working together to flesh it out.

I just realized that Ku'Plugh is an NPC in PC clothing, so I will leave it up to Jeremy to do whatever he wants with the ogre. If he chooses to forgo adding anything, who am I to complain...it's his game after all, I'm just acting as a temporary steward :)

I will leave it up to everyone's imagination as to whether it is purposeful that I have not revealed a tonne of Nogglegrop's past, or not. My vote is for laziness actually.

Great reminder and very important to do, since it's nothing short of devastating to try to re-fashion a character from memory.

Off to do that now, after I find pants.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

For Kwen:

- Need a deity
- Add an image
- skills = (6+3)x4 + 4 at first, 6+3 at second level = 49

That was kind of hurried for me, so I'll take another look later. Have to go out now :-)

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Also, I always put my total normal attack and damage bonuses right in the weapon damage field, i.e. for Scimitar: Total attack bonus: +3, damage: 1d6+1. It's your call of course.

Another thing I do is put a line in the equipment list: Armor and weapons above, and then add the total weight of them in there. That way the sheet can add up your total weight for you.

And in case you didn't know, we won't use experience points. We'll just magically clang to a new level whenever our GM feels we deserve it...

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

ah okay so I need to add more skill points, get rid of the xp and add my total attack and damage bonuses I'll have that done, as for Kur'plugh I'll add some more background, I don't want to make cookie cutter NPCs :) I have the deity completed for Kwen, I'll add an image as well, sorry I was a bit rushed I wanted to get both of my character's completed quickly, I didn't want to hold anyone up for the PBP.

Also I didn't see on the formatting of texts on how to change the spoiler to just having the box say show rolls when you click on it, for example: Revery's spells.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Not sure what's up with your code in your "Race" slot for Kwen, but it doesn't link to the character sheet.

Try this one:

[REMOVEurl=http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=491435]Half Elf Rogue[/url]

Take out the REMOVE to make the code work.

Ooops, I just recognized my typo when I put that into the IC post. That should have been 1D6 damage.

Just a reminder, this is a way for those of us without Slam or the Hand to Hand feat to attack without provoking an AoO. Whip 'em with the chain. There's -4 to the attack roll for being improvised, but at least it's armed.

Kur'Plugh:

- Slam total attack bonus should be +2.
- I assume that the pic is holding a symbolic totem, since shaman are non-proficient with slashing weapons. ;)
- Right now, in the storm, it takes a DC 16 channeling check vs. vigorous motion to cast a spell (see this post for example).
- The Strengthen spell adds +3 Str, not Str bonus; so your Str would go to 20 and your Str bonus to +5, not +6. (Unless I'm missing something here.)
- There's no reason to learn a spell twice, since the casting system is mana-based. You start knowing four different spells, and you have (casting_stat_bonus * caster_levels * 2) mana, or 2*1*2 = 4 mana in your case.
- If your channeling check succeeded, then casting Strengthen just used up half of your mana. That would leave you with 2/4 left, which is enough for one casting of Minor Healing, or two of Burst of Flame. FWIW, spell failures do not expend mana, so it's not a big deal if the channeling check failed.

Piter de Colmar (Human Shadow Knight) The hour has arrived to abandon theories and go directly to what is practical.

We're all in this together, either we're all getting the bonus, or none do :)

So, did we achieve this?

Yay!

Adding +2 to my Dex right now...

Zaruksis: 1d6 ⇒ 5 (Wisdom)
Loki: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (Charisma)
Piter: 1d6 ⇒ 2 (Dexterity)
Cakkarak: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (Charisma)

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Revery's second Lull cannot be cast, because of recast time (1r). Will you let him cast another spell instead, as the second one?

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

Sorry, I was too tired to write more last night, and I barely have time at work to write this. I will catch up late this evening.

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

okay so Kur'Plugh is adding what to his stats :) , was this only for the evil group?

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Yes, evil group only. The good guys had other bonuses when they started...

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

okay, adding the +2 to INT right now

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

No need to roll initiative, I do group initiative :)

Revery wrote:

Just so we are both on the same page...

You have 14 people coming after you, so you lull one of them (better pick someone far away cause the "in combat" restriction is getting a lenient ruling right now) and he is still coming after you, but if he fails he will not be paying attention to what is happening to his fellow rogues for 2 minutes as he is stabbing you.

If that's what you wish to do then sure you can cast another spell :)

Where lull pays massive dividends is to cast it on one guy then punch the friend that's standing next to him. If he fails he will continue drinking his drink oblivious to what is going on for 2 minutes, unless you attack him.

Either way I will wait for tomorrow morning before I end this round.

Kwen wrote:

It was a bonus I gave out for people who posted every day for a period of time :)

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

Sorry about the initiative roll, years of PBM's took over, also the group in melee range have they drawn weapons or are they trying to engage in fisticuffs? Just want to know if I need to start with lethal or not :)
Fair enough on the bonus, still getting used to the PBP RPG and I'm having a blast, thanks for letting me join

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Okay, I read the spell a bit differently. It is a bit ambiguous...

I'll repost, if that's okay.

Iksar Shadow Knight

Re-posting in-line (with modifications) since I didn't get any response to the spoiler. ;)

@Ker'Plugh:
- The Strengthen spell adds +3 Str, not +3 Str bonus; so your Str would go to 20 and your Str bonus to +5, not +6. (Unless I'm missing something here.)
- You start knowing four different spells, they don't all cost the same mana, and you choose how to spend your mana at the time you cast a spell. So you should list four *different* spells known, along with how much mana each one costs, and how much mana you have left (4/4, 2/4, etc.).
- If your channeling check on Strengthen succeeded, then it used up half of your mana. It would've left you with 2/4 left, which is enough for one casting of Minor Healing, or two of Burst of Flame. FWIW, spell failures do not expend mana, so it's not a big deal if the channeling check failed. (Same with the check for your later Burst of Flame.)
- (NEW!) There is the question of how many skill points Ker'Plugh will gain from his sudden +2 Int. I think that since he's still 1st level, it should be +4.
- (NEW! part 2) Ker'Plugh's Spellcraft has reverted to having CC checked. This is a bug in the form. That line will always want to revert to CC. I suggest changing that line to a handy CC skill, like Sense Motive, and moving everything else down.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

All permanent INT bonuses provided later in the game will convey skill points across all levels (like CON bonuses to HPs).

Probably doesn't make logical sense, not that that matters in a world of monsters and magic, but its easier to track.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

It sort of makes sense... You're smarter, so you've figured out how to do something (i.e. how to leverage your strength while climbing) in a slightly better way.

In Pathfinder a +1 can translate to +4 if you put your first skill point in a class skill. Here, +1 is only +1, so it's not quite so unbelievable.

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

Whoops, sorry I'll throw another post up for Kur'plugh's channeling to see if burst of flame goes off and update the mana usage, I thought that the Strengthen spell would just add a +3 bonus to str checks, I'll start double checking spells as well.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

@Cakkarak: I'm thinking that iksar have full nictitating membranes that activate on land to moisten the eye and remove debris (like most animals that have them), but also to protect the parents' eyes while feeding their hatchlings (like birds of prey), and also when striking at prey (like sharks). Sound good?

Stranger Danger!

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

One question: Is there just one gnome, or two? If just one, how did he get up out of the hold?

Iksar Shadow Knight

I think just one. The one taunting us hasn't been seen since I stabbed him and he screamed and dropped the keys. (With all that blood, and the sharks, we can assume the worst.) After Piter unlocked the hold, we all just swam out, since the ship had sunk that far. Nogglegrop disappeared under the waves, but Cakkarak decided to save the heal-bot slave. Lucky Noggy! Err, for certain values of the term "lucky". ;)

As long as its just for lore, and does not convey any actual bonuses, I am on board.

It's creepy, alien and I likes it! Helps to show why the mammals hate them, as do the reptiles, since they're closer to platapii.

Kwen wrote:

Iksar Shadow Knight

Just for lore. The nictitating membranes could be roleplayed as part of iksars' +2 Wis, due to not having to close their eyelids in the face of blowing dust, strong winds, and the like. For the same reason, it could be part of their +3 AC from natural armor: their eyes are always open during combat, with never even a flinching blink.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

I hope everyone is enjoying playing the exact same scene, but from a warped and twisted angle. It's like a dark deja vu. It opens up Nogglegrop's story a bit as well, which is fun. I just hope I don't kill him before his cliff diving experience, since that would be hard to explain in a continuity sense.

I set this up as a weird little "it would really be a challenge to wend two stories together" and am really enjoying playing it out. As always it is the players that make it interesting, so each of you deserve the credit for making sympathetic characters that are worthy of note.

As an aside, Jeremy will be taking over the evil group in and around the time that the group hits the island, so expect that transition, and please everyone welcome/thank him for stepping up. I really appreciate the opportunity to play, and that is worth a round of applause.

(starts the wave for Jeremy)

Revery wrote:

There were two gnomes, the escaped gnome that had the keys and was peeing into the hold, and Nogglegrop. The peeing gnome got a fairly impressive gash by a rusted pipe and disappeared (never to be seen again...or will he? *queues ominous music*).

Nogglegrop swam out of the hold when it flooded.

Both wonderful explanations. A worthy addition to the iksar lore.

That would be less confusing than the belly button on pg. 81. o_0

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Yay Jeremy! Don't kill us because we're bad! It's really hard being misunderstood all the time!

Welcome to the other side.

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

I'll try to restrain myself, as for the other side, it's just like flipping a coin, since I am true neutral as a person, I have no strong feelings one way or another. Sides I live with Russ, I think it won't be too difficult to be evil, I have a prime example that I live with

Iksar Shadow Knight

@Ker'Plugh: You can actually use the chain and slam together in a full attack action, and even choose different targets.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

If Kwen wants to change his attack to a lethal one, just use your current attack roll and re-roll the damage.

Normally editing the existing post would be best for continuity, but this case does not provide that opportunity since it is past the 1 hour mark from the point that the post was submitted.

NOTE:
Everyone please take note of the bind wounds rules in EverQuest. The heal skill matters in this game more than any other game I can think of, and it makes potential healers out of us all. Bring bandages and be able to comfortably hit a DC 15 heal check with consistency and you're laughing.

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

alright will do, I'll post when I get off from work @3:30

Piter de Colmar (Human Shadow Knight) The hour has arrived to abandon theories and go directly to what is practical.

What are the stats on the chain? (penalty to hit, damage?) And should I assume Piter is -2 to hit in this light?

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress
Piter de Colmar wrote:

Improvised weapon, d6 damage, 20/x2, 1HB, 8.0 lbs.

Piter would have another -2 to hit. Normally I would give a miss chance based on concealment, but I am far too lazy for that considering how many night blind humans there be (they would light a torch, but there's a dragon about).

Keep in mind you are berry berry close to the big lizard, so quiet be good!

Ogre

Whoops, sorry got caught up in my writing, I'll try to be a little bit more on the quiet side

If it's alright, I'd like to change Zaru's character creation feat. I had a great deal of difficulty deciding, and I thought that maybe I should go in a different direction than Piter to distinguish Zaruksis; but now I think there would actually be some good synergy if we both had Cleave, so I'd like to switch from Parry to Power Attack.

In the other game, sorry about Gwendalyn drinking so much. I had no idea that she was such a lightweight! Seriously, I overestimated the benefits and underestimated the consequences. Also, how did Kwen get so hurt? I see him at 15/18 with 2 subdual.

male Half Elf Rogue /Markus Vardin Human cleric (Giant Slayer Blackguard Kwenilithmor Eridosan)

Yeah I misread the post, only just now noticed that I had only taken 3 points of damage, will update that on my next post.

Works for me.

My general rule of thumb is that I give a grace period on skills/feats, that have not been used in game, to be switched on the fly.

Change away.

Yay! Also, here's a whatsit. (Can't think of a word.) A scene that's extraneous now that continuity has moved on and invalidated the premise.

What I wrote before the law entered with Nogglegrop:
Gears turn slowly in Gwendalyn's beer-sodden brain, and she finally remembers that she has a whistle in her pocket. She pulls it out and snarls. "They can treat their own damn wounded this time! We need to get Noggy!" Leaving behind some stable rogues and at least one dying one, she begins blowing on her whistle and rudely shoving her way through the melee, an irate small giant in a horned helm, shaking her bloody spiked chain at anyone who objects.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Cool, she has a horned helm! Love it!

Revery has silver moons on his robes...
