Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

That was my next thought, Fredrik...

"As the chain touches his flesh the light ends, but the enchanter is confident that he can bring it forth with but a thought (full round action, incurs an AoO, 2 charges remaining)."

Does Revery have an idea what it does, what it would do to a Lich? Would a spellcraft check help?

Activate it.

Heh, will do. He can't use it dead.

Piter de Colmar (Human Shadow Knight) The hour has arrived to abandon theories and go directly to what is practical.

Piter is clanged...

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

EJB, a while back I wrote, "Piter steps through the portal and looks around, observing the kind of place he is in, and everything (and everyone) within."

Where are we? Could we get a description of the terrain?

Does your chant of battle effect Nalun?

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Fredrik,

Players Handbook (top paragraph of page 174):
"A caster may cast only one spell as a free action in a single round"

I'll take the Fleeting Fury. Take your mana back for Flash of Light.

Do it again and Kwen will poison you :)

Nalun Phlithmira wrote:

No, just myself. Sorry.

All this time, I thought it was strange to do more than one spell as a free action, but didn't see a rule against it. Now that you point it out, there it is, plain as day. Makes perfect sense.

Wow, you've been busy. I haven't started.

Are there any magic items that can do wicked spell-like things as attacks-of-opportunity?

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Strange that no one even mentioned the nipple thing I wrote yesterday lol : )

tl;dr

This is where we give Mike a medal for double checking all that to ensure it adds up!

I love it when people point things like this out to me, since my grasp of the rules is general and my focus is on the story primarily, so I bring back fire to the cave.

No worries, we all learn, we move forward, I'll most likely kill you in the morning Wesley.

It will matter more and more in a bit, because Nogglegrop is about to exit stage leftward : )

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Torchbearer is going to stick with Jinx.

I have given him a free hand to change the character around to suit his purposes, so we'll just roll with any changes he makes. If he changes the name we'll just pretend Jinx was a nickname. If he changes the race I will retire and blame the next guy : )

Eh, we're used to the iksar nipples. Clearly, Cazic-Thule made them from mammals and just didn't bother to get rid of the extraneous protrusions. :p

I was afraid of Noggy's exit stage left, as you can see from my list of spells chosen. (Lots of expensive redundancy.) I guess that the main thing I need to know is whether my numbers are correct, and specifically if we can assume obtaining trade skill items at half price, if their DC is at or below a PC's skill mod. (I'm taking an earring and a bracelet, in that case.)

@Revery: I don't recall anything for spell-like AoOs, but since you asked, I'll make a list of stuff that I think people might like.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Does Revery need those special Enchanter spells to create items with his Jeweler skill? It's not clear from the description that he does, unless I missed something?

Of course he says that, then suggests a paladin wouldn't be a bad idea because the cleric is leaving:) If I go with the paladin I'll retire Jinx because I just can't picture him as a paladin.

Anything within a few points of the current tradeskill ranks is fine for half price as long as it is castable with our current complement (needing a special forge, or spell or anything else we don't have will screw that up). Revery could enchant electrum (level 5 spell), but not gold (level 7 spell), which will affect your purchases.

Revery wrote:

page 238-239 of the Game Master's Guide has the tradeskill spells.

<giggles>

Paladins in EverQuest are a completely different breed than the preachy, over-the-top f*##tards in D&D and Pathfinder. They can be of any good alignment (discordant paladins? seriously).

That being said the question always comes down to whether this will make the game more fun, or just be friction. There's a rogue in the party who uses poisons and breaks into places for fun....

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

Boy, Gwendalyn really regrets not thinking of a lich's hands as weapons. Now that's a mistake that you don't make twice! (Probably because you're dead.)

I'll read that again, as last time I didn't see where in the tradeskill description it said I needed those spells.

So I assume that means the restriction of only spells from the phb is lifted in this case?

Revery wrote:

Two stages:

1. The gem is cut, faceted, and polished (using your tumbler, cutting wheel, acids and polishing implements if you have a shop, or your portable jeweler's kit with its loupe, special knives, small tumbler and setting tools). All taking 2-3 days in the workshop or longer in the field.
2. Next it is placed into a setting composed of precious metals. If it is to be a enchanted jewelry then the metals need to be purified by the proper enchanter's spell.

Revery wrote:

It is lifted.

According to the write-up, it was intended to be placed in the Player's Handbook, but they placed it in the tradeskill section of the GM's guide instead.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

EJB, so are we underground? If so, it must be a cavern, because the vampires were up higher.

Can you please describe it? I am useless in a situation where I don't even know whether there is sky above, dirt below, walls or trees or mountains nearby. I don't need super-descriptive details, just: where am I and what do I see/hear?

So far I have figured we are in a cave, with ledges, and a door nearby, but the noonday sun is above us. I hope you understand my confusion.

Not positive, but I think the "sun" was a reference to the ogre's light spell.

Then again I might be clueless : )

ATTENTION: Pravus Mortis!

As long as the posting keeps up like this: as soon as this curse is lifted, if everyone survives of course, I am going to do a blanket erase job on everyone's expensive/magical gear/purchased spells/found loot in this adventure (I empathize with the accounting it will take to work out what you have in cash, sorry) and replace it with an equivalent amount for everyone. You are welcome to re-buy your gear at straight book prices, and of course much much more.

The point of this is to bring everyone up to speed to EverQuest's Wealth By Level chart (something I almost never use) and let everyone have an early Christmas present whilst they are dealing with this dreary f&#&ing place.

This new wealth will be explained as found loot in this adventure, so from this point on I will not be providing any additional loot (cheesy I know). After this game mechanic is applied I will go back to doling out wealth as before.

Unless people go all crazy on tradeskill items (full sets of armour and stuff will be at market cost), we will assume all spells learned are automatic, as are tradeskill rolls within the group's current skill set feel free to wend your way through the Game Master's Guide and Al'Kabor's Arcana for ideas of things to buy, items will need to be vetted to ensure they are not ridiculously overpowered. Spells will only come from the Player's Guide.

Enjoy your shopping trip!

What's the link for Al'Kabor's Arcana?

Also, do we still have to pay the cost to add the spells to our books?

Also, I plan to buy Enchant Electrum, so if anyone wants a Jeweler trade skill item, you can get an Electrum one at cost (half book price).

You do.

Cutting stones is a labouriously long process, so if a great deal of enchanted jewelry is being made by Revery (at half price) then please ensure you are factoring enough time to get the items in (Nogglegrop can buy them at Ak'Anon) and have 2-3 days for each stone.

Anyone with mapping skills (feel like we've had this conversation before) want to design a two tiered city that's round like a mountain?

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

I have visitors coming tomorrow, so I won't have a lot of time in the next week for updating the google docs, re-equipping Revery, or designing a city.

For the city, one option would be to find maps online that align with what we want.

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

I can't remember why Pravus Mortis is naming the city after one random girl out of the many people that they have saved over the years. Gwendalyn is fine with the name for her own reason -- she's a shaman of justice -- but why a statue to someone who ended up being okay? Is there something I'm forgetting?

She was lent special attention because the group spent weeks moving towards her, after saving her from the clutches of a madman's lair (her connection to Kwen was especially strong), as assassins, since it was fully the group's intent to slaughter this "one random girl", as a sacrifice of one for the many, since she was going to die either way.

Her freedom from the larger machinations was such a relief that I think it was lent even stronger significance.

Also, this group and consensus...lol....yeah. There would be an opening salvo of different names (with only half the group caring), no one would agree with anyone else, and then it would just be left unresolved.

Page 113 of the Game Master's Guide speaks to stacking.

    Highlights

  • +5 is the maximum for most items to add to: saving throws, attack rolls, damage rolls, and AC
  • +6 is the maximum for most items to add to ability scores
  • Bonuses form different types always stack. Identical types of bonuses don't stack. Only the higher bonus is effective.
