Yes - almost half the backers are keeping Sophie, based on the numbers of people that have completed their RPM. It's closer to 40% than 50%, but it is a significant number - almost 9,000 units. Also - they, there was a cry and hue about Sophie at first - in the early days of the project we fielded a lot of emails, comments, and PMs about her, with a lot of the same "she's sexist" or "she's unneccessary". Our argument was, and has been, that you have to pay for the naked version - she is fully clothed, and while she is in revelaing outfits, she is in fact a sccubus - a demon of the sin of lust. She's supposed to be temptation personified in the female form. Further, she's "Kickstarting" a motorcycle, ha ha, how funny are we, a pun in pewter, verily.
Since my job day-to-day involves the managing of casting her, I'm just as happy to have people trade her out, and make less work for me! :D
I actually wanted the Sophie, it's just that the motorcycle did not have a place in my games (at this time). If I could have gotten her in an attack pose without the motorcycle as part of my pledge I'd have been down!
BUT...I also wanted to say that the model looks fantastic and you sir are doing a GREAT job!

Did you read the update at the Kickstarter site? They are having some issues -- they've already had to trade out some elf sculpts because they couldn't get the new ones in on time, for example. Also apparently 3x as much paint was ordered than expected... so yeah, there's stuff that's going to be behind, but they're still doing everything they can to get everything out on time, with stuff to international shippers no later than March.
In the meantime, for ordering other minis currently in print, I'd suggest ordering from the Warstore. You get a decent discount and the customer service is amazing.

Indeed DQ, I have had nothing but satisfactory service from the Warstore.
I'd also suggest Cool Mini or Not. The people who comment on the galleries can be rather merciless, but I've had great snail-mail delivery time thus far, and their catalog's great.

Anyone recommend a case seller without crazy shiping to the UK?
Sounds great, then I went on their website and it is so confusing that I can only think that the company is a money-laundering front for something horribly illegal.
There's no way that a business which actually wants to sell stuff would make that wbsite: it gave me a headache. I'd rather spend more money somewhere else than waste a week figuring out what it all means.
Not your fault, obviously, just a bit of a shock!
Thanks too, to everybody else who made suggestions.

The website is a common complaint. Apparently, the best way to get stuff from them is to send them an email explaining what your needs are, and then they tell you what to get.

I use plastic gun carry cases, they are cheap and carry and protect a bunch of minis.
That said, they aren't compartmentalized so I popped the $25 for these and I'll use my gun cases for bigger figs.

Oops, I should have warned you about that...they do have quite a good little catalog they send out with their orders....being in Britain you could probably ask for one. I am in Australia and did quite a bit of research before I settled on them, and I am very happy with their product. Particularly for just storage of painted figures, and not necessarily taking them to places. To put it in context, I also have two battle-hives and a Reaper soft sided figure case (no longer made unfortunately), and I would probably buy the KRs from now on as they are fantastic value.....now I should like a Shill...sorry.
It is all dependent what you want...it is miniature storage only, or also miniature transport?? I use one of Reaper's little shell case for my transport needs, as I usually am only transporting character figures.

Looks like paint has proven very popular.
I'll admit if I had known (i.e. just waited one more day to lock in my order) that no paint would be shipped until March I likely would have ordered miniatures instead. A lot of my old paint passed on when I took up the painting hobby after a 7 year hiatus (unsurprisingly it was modern GW paints that dried up, 20+ year old paint was just fine though!) and I *really* need some new colours soon! I'm tired of painting villagers in muddy brown and tan.

Reaper Bones... biggest mini scam in the history of gaming; 20,000 gamers 'tricked*' into spending hundreds of dollars on a monster mini order. I'll bet the final total winds up well over $4m after people finish RPM tool.

There's a rumor that Reaper is going to offer a reset button as a result of the paint fiasco. Right now I'm only in for the first stater set. To the more experienced painters out there (virtually no experience here), are there any addition reaper set that I'm going to want to add to my order if they let me?

I thought the paints were just delayed until the main order shipped?

Bloodsbane |

I've got Vampire (- Sophie) + giants, a frost wyrm and Cthulhu coming my way.
On the subject of KR cases, I love 'em and they're both my mini storage and transport solution of choice. I can only agree that their homepage is a disaster, but if you wade through the offensively crappy interface and actually get yourself some cases, you won't regret it. Their aquila 1 case is perfect for transporting RPG minis - space for 25 humanoids (with a M4H tray in it), and fits easily in any satchel bag.

Forgive me, but why is it a fiasco? It sounds like they simply did not anticipate the large number of people that opted for the paint sets. Everyone is still going to get the paint - it just will arrive with the minis instead of right away. I would think that most people ordered the paint specifically to use in painting all the new Bones when they arrive so it really does not seem like that big of a deal.
I know when I read the announcement about the paint delay (I opted for 2 or 3 of the paint sets myself) I just shrugged my shoulders and thought "OK, thanks for the update"
Not trying to start anything - I just see this as pretty much a non-issue.

![]() |

My mother and I thought the same. Its no big deal really. I'll just order some of the colors I actually need for the minis I currently have. After that I'll wait on the colors I ordered.
Either way I need to order paints as mine are really low. All my GW dried up leaving me with the need for a lot of paints now.

The $18 paint sets that would normally retail for about $30 and have free shipping? Yeah, I can wait.
I do sympathize with those that had plans for them sooner rather than later. I would have liked to get them earlier so I could mess around on some old Mage Knight figures before getting the Bones shipment. Ah, well.

Some people are very angry that the paint shipment will not be ready to ship until the Bones. We are allowing resets, at this time upon request.
What it boils down to, is that when we were growing at a rate of 100 backers per day, we were anticipating 3,000-5,000 backers. We ended with almost 18,000.
What was planned to be ~50,000-100,000 bottles became half a million.
The supplier can get us (and has) the 100,000 we pre-ordered. But when RPM numbers began to come in, we quickly realized we had to increase our order, but the supplier gave us a much later delivery time for the additional materials. Couple that with the added time it takes to fill the bottles - 400,000 bottles, for perspective, and we're physically unable to fill all the bottles in October, although we had (back in August) thought we could. We will receive the bottles in waves, and fill them as they come in, but time being what it is, we will end up not fulfilling the last of the production requirements until early February. Given that we anticipate shipping the Bones in March, we made a decision to delay all shipments of Paint until the Bones could also ship.
We have a few (not many) very vocal people that believe we have treated them unfairly by not being able to honor that original plan, and we are doing our best to accommodate them.
We appreciate the patience of everybody affected by this, and are grateful for your understanding that the situation has become more complex than we anticipated it would be when we began the project in late July.

That is about how I feel Shin. I'm very pleased with how Reaper is trying to respond to this situation and also the grace with which they are maintaining during this unforeseeable occurrence.
My thanks to Reaper for all their hard work on this kickstarter and for their side quest of this Kickstarter. The side quest being bringing their whole production to the United States in the great state of Texas.
I am very happy to have put in with my mother to aid both the main point of the Kickstarter and the side quest.

I am one of those who were very vocal about the paints being delayed at first. Feel free to heap scorn on me for not being "a real fan."
My initial displeasure was based on international pledgers being "stiffed" in favour of US pledgers because of what turned out to be faulty information (that it was a prohibitive international shipping cost problem).
This was later cleared up and after further information I commended Reaper on telling us the real reason behind any delays.
I had hoped to get the paint "now" (October/November) because I need to replace some older paints and my friends and I have started meeting for painting sessions to get up to speed on it.
Now that it's clear that no one is getting their Kickstarter paints until March, I have selected other miniatures (and a case) for the money I put into our pooled pledge and will have to buy paint elsewhere to replace my old paints (some of my friends didn't need new paints, so they have still ordered paints through the Manager).
It sucks for everyone (and those who derided the international pledgers for complaining in the first place can now see their fellow US pledgers do the same...), but I am at least happy that this has been communicated before the Pledge Manager closed (and Reaper is allowing resets for those who locked it in too early based on the recent information).
So, to summarize. I complained, information was given over the following days (and I can fully sympathize with Reaper's situation and problems with their supplier), I acknowledged the situation and chose other options in the Pledge Manager.

I love it when someone puts across what I was going to say but in a much more elegant way.
I had also expressed my disappointment about the initial paint decision (more about the lack of communication actually), and was told that I was a whinger (but not by Reaper, with exception of the initial delay in communications, for which they have apologised, they have been a class act). I must admit to a bit of giggling when the whole shipment was delayed and suddenly every one was treated the same way.

Locked in my pledge as well for the below! Somehow I went into it 50/50 on whether I'd keep Sophie or not, but then I ended up getting two of her... Neither of them are the kind of miniature I'd normally buy, but in a way that made them appealing as a memento from the Kickstarter. Plus they'll go pretty well with the Bombshell Babes figures I'll be getting.

Whinge and whine have very similiar meanings. I didn't realise that it was particularly Australian, but obviouly is. Sorry for the confusion...

Love my country! We've such a great range of slang and colloquialisms.
I thought about asking for a reset, not that I ordered paints or anything, but upon reflection I released I'd just add MORE mini's to the buy rather than change the ones I got. I paid $200 up front for the original bid and added $25 more on the bid manager - I gotta draw the line somewhere.
If I did reset I'd just order the earth and wood elementals. Great figures in their own right but didn't inspire me enough over the demons and when I had added in 2 sets of familiars and an extra of the haunts, I realised I'd hit the straps and couldn't shoehorn in those figures at $15.

No one is heaping scorn on you for not being a "real fan", so I dont know where that's coming from if that was in response to what I wrote. If it wasn't then please ignore this response.
I'm just having a difficult time getting that people are getting angry (per reaper Bryan's post) about the paint delay. I could almost understand if it were about the mini's but not the paints. Now from my point of view there's a difference between voicing concern and being angry or belligerent about something like this. If you were the first and not the second then I'm not talking about you when I say "reading this makes me ashamed to be a fan".

I wrote what I did because I read what you wrote above as saying that if you complained about the paint delay, then you obviously weren't a real fan. Or a version of the No True Scotsman fallacy if you will.
I hope I also made it clear that my complaints were given before the latest two paint updates (first one being that they didn't have enough bottles and second one being that everyone would have to wait), so it wasn't an issue with the current situation. As for not understanding why anyone could be upset by the paint delay. Well, I'll just say that I find that stance very dismissive and not very understanding of people who might be in a different situation or have other needs than you do.

![]() |

I think that people being upset is reasonable - We were not able to successfully communicate the impact of the unprecedented success on our suppliers, our labor force, and our planning, and part of that is because we didn't fully realize the impact until expectations had already been set.
We are not blameless here, but we are doing the best we can to adapt and move forward.
I don't think it makes anybody less than a "true fan" to be upset at our failure to understand and communicate. As before, The best I can do at this point is to communicate now what I know now, and ask for patience.
Gentle Giant and I have had a long off board conversation, and I sympathize completely with him, while the fact is there is very little I can do to affect the current situation.
I believe his RPM pledge has been reset for him so he can make adjustments based on the new information, and If not, he knows how to get me.
