Smite Good from different sources

Rules Questions

Can Smite Good (or evil) from different sources stack on the same target?

For example if a NPC was a fiendish human anti-paladin?

Liberty's Edge

No, bonuses are the same. Also remember that the racial smite is weaker than the class smite. It only adds to atk and dmg. Racial smite does not give the AC boost or DR overcome aspect.

"Bonuses without a type always stack, unless they are from the same source".

For the sake of sanity, I would agree with Coridan that the Smite Good (or evil) would not stack as they can be seen as coming from the same source, even though the individual abilities are gained from different things (one a class ability and another a template).

However an argument could be made that the two smites are coming from different sources and therefore should stack as Coridan also pointed out they are not the same ability as one provides DR penetration and an AC bonus (the class ability) while the other is just attack and damage (the template).

But like I said above for the sake of sanity I would rule that they are from the same source so they do not stack. Smite already adds a truckload without double dipping.
