I took the raven familiar at first level, we can both speak the same language. I like to have my bird go out and seek things, monsters mostly, it has a higher perception than me and spots things easier. My GM says that's b%$@$@!& and that I shouldn't even be able to talk to it, even though it is a magical beast and has an INT score of 6 (which isn't that high but it's better than the usual score of INT 2 for most animals). So what do you guys think, can I speak to my bird intelligently? And if so, is it legitimate to have it seek out dangerous creatures for me?
Not yet no at level 1-4 you have an empathic link, means you can tell how its feeling emotionaly and vice versa, once you hit level 5 yes you can talk to it but not until then.

I see two possibilities here:
I'd suggest talking to her pointing at the listed ability under the wizard section and ask your GM whether she didn't know or she ruled otherwise regardless (and maybe pick another familiar or ask your GM when this ability will be available).

Im not sure where you found the ref for the raven speaking a langauge of you're choice, its not listed with the familair entry or the bestiary entry.
The famailar wizard entry says you get +3 to appraise skill.
Do you have the reference?
ahhh got it might be why you're GM missed it, its lited on the bottom of the chart.
Well in that case I would have to say yes then you can speak to it
Go to PRD/Wizard/Familiar.
Notice the asterisk at the raven's line? At the bottom of the table it's spelled out, that it gets to speak a language of its master's choosing as a SU.
