PFS GM Question...

I signed up for PFS because I will be opening a game store soon and wanted to be ready to run events when the doors opened. A few weeks ago I ran Master of the Fallen Fortress for my regular group using the PFS pregens so I could get a feel for PFS play. (It was a lot of fun BTW.)

None of them have PFS accounts so can I claim that session as a PFS GM?

One thing you could do is go your your GM Section on your My Pathfinder Page, and download and print 10 PFS numbers. Assign one of them to each of those players and use those numbers to report. If the players come back for mroe PFS, then you already have numbers set for them, and they can have the credit from playing through that first session as well.

Good luck with the store!

First - a big welcome !!

To claim the session as PFS GM

Step 1: Open an event. In your case this is likely your store / future store

Step 2: Once you have an event, you are able to claim 10 PFS numbers. Assign these to your players. The link is somewhere in the GM area (I use it once a year - so maybe someone links it directly)

Step 3: Ensure you make some chronicles for your players and hand them the chronicle

Step 4: Report it

My advice - keep a copy of the PFS number / code. At this stage players often don't know yet if they want to commit long term or not and lose the slips and then frantically look for them in a few month time.

If it was a game according to the PFS rules then they might be very grateful that they are the first step towards the second level.

Awesome, thanks guys. I thought I'd be SoL about that session (not a big deal at all) so it's nice to know I can still report it.

--EDIT--

Also, thank you for the quick reply.

Okay, I must be freaken blind, stupid, or both. lol Where do I find the link to download PFS numbers for my players?

Grand Lodge 5/5 ****

Go to MyPathfinder Society - link is at the top of the PFS home page.

Go to the tab GM/Event Coodinator

It should be at the bottom below the events. Reserve 10 Pathfinder Society cards

I kind of answered my own question by way of finding this forum post, but now that I have an event created the link to download the PFS numbers isn't showing up. I think I'm doing something wrong.

I figured it out. I clicked the box that I completed reporting the event. Apparently that makes it so the link doesn't populate.

To add to the advice from Seth & Thod, it might be worth checking first with the players to see if any of them already have PFS numbers/PCs, as (in my experience) some people register as PFS players even when they have no idea when they might actually get to play PFS. If they already have a number, you can use that, rather than issuing them with a new pregenerated number and reporting against that number.

Thank you for your help.

Now if there was only a way to get credit for my Age of Worms campaign........

I know they don't. They are all close friends and it was their first time playing Pathfinder. I just emailed them to let them I know I had numbers if they wanted them.

Eater -

Great to see some new store owners in the field :)

My business partner and I opened our store a bout 18 months ago and we've had a lot of good times, and we've had the great opportunity to learn quite a bit from it. If you have some time and want some input on what worked for us when not only starting a new store, but also starting new organized play opportunities just drop me a private message. I'm happy to discuss our findings with you.

Where's your store going to be located?

He lives in Lewiston Maine so I'm gonna assume there. Good luck with the store!

Eater: I have friends who live in Brigdton (I always spell that wrong), so Next summer I may be able to swing your way

We will be opening our doors either next month or the following October since that is the ideal time of year to launch. We will be in Auburn, Maine which is the sister city to Lewiston. Bridgton is only about a 15 minute drive from us.

I've never done organized play before so it should be fun to get a handle on. My only disappointment is I will have to start using minis for PFS. lol

Thank you for the words of encouragement one and all. It will be an adventure and we will look for you in the store. :D
