As some people know I play a summoner with an eidolon named Hunter. As a summoner I have a spell-like ability that is Summoner Monster. Of course I can't use it unless my eidolon's not there. I'm at level 2 so I get another level one spell. If I took Summon Monster can I use it as a spell while my eidolon's there? Also is it worth it to take the spell or should I go with Mage Armor for another spell known? Thanks:)
You would be able to cast Summon Monster I as any other caster can -- meaning that it is a full round action to cast and the summoned monster is only around for 2 rounds at level 2. I would wait a few levels before picking up a spell like that.
Mage Armor is probably the best spell you can pick up to buff your eidolon at this level -- while you don't need it for the summoner who can wear light armor, the Share Spells ability lets you cast it on your eidolon, who cannot wear any armor and at low levels needs all the AC help he can get. Heck, I still have my summoner cast it on his eidolon at 9th level as part of his morning routine.
Thank you. I will go with mage armor except even though I wear light armor my eidolon has a better ac than me so if I use it, it'll be on me.
But keep in mind that the +4 bonus from Mage Armor does not stack with the bonus from actual armor -- so if your summoner is actually benefiting from that spell, then you are under-equipped.
The only reason that my eidolon has a better ac than me is that he's aquatic so he gets a free +4 nat armor and I gave him the feat dodge for an extra +1, plus he's level two so he gets an armor bonus. It all adds up to an ac of 16 while at normal I'm at a 14...

My summoner uses Shield rather than Mage Armor. You can cast it on your eidolon (share spells), you (probably) don't have to worry about stacking and it negates magic missiles. On the down side, the duration is 1 minute per level for Shield, but 1 hour per level for Mage Armor. For many players, that down side is huge.
